Ok that's what I thought after you asked that, so I'm going to run this veg cycle 24 hours of light see if we can keep them real bushy. Thanks for the great advice SME.

Food for thought.....

Auxins promote stem elongation, inhibit growth of lateral buds (maintains apical dominance). They are produced in the stem, buds, and root tips. Auxin is a plant hormone produced in the stem tip that promotes cell elongation. Auxin moves to the darker side of the plant, causing the cells there to grow larger than corresponding cells on the lighter side of the plant. This produces a curving of the plant stem tip toward the light.

I have an idea for how to reduce stretch, it involves individual led lights that a friend has been designing they are on a thermoelectric cooler with a heat sink so that you can place 50 w led anywhere around the plant to get a more even penetration, This Peltier works very well as long as you remove the heat from the hot side. After turning on the device, the hot side will heat quickly, the cold side will cool quickly. If you do not remove the heat from the hot side (with a heat sink or other device), the Peltier will quickly reach stasis and do nothing.

We figure that this will allow for strong led anywhere around the plant. But there are always issues to work out hopefully we get it figured out

I do have other LEDs that are just cheapies, after a few grows with the ss400
I may incorporate them to see how they help out. I'm thinking of moving my light to around 20" or lower, now that the plants are used to the light I think they will handle it being closer. I'm kinda weirded out by flowering the plants at on 12" tall they are almost there and it hasn't been in veg that long lol but if ya figure my light will hang at its highest 6'. Then if the plants will triple if I don't LST them that puts them at 4ft high gives 24" to the light and at that height won't be much penetration. But I'm going to LST as soon as I fix my anchor point trellis so hope I can spread it out wide and keep it under 12".

Hey bud, I ran my light at 18" except during the first few weeks of 12/12, when i had them at 24". I never saw a problem.

Thanks gr865 I just measured and my light is 20" from top of tallest one so think I'll leave it there as the plant will more than likely be there in the next couple days.

Spectra and other factors influence stretch too so just throwing more watts at it may or may not help...but that's for another thread not his journal. ;)

Sorry for lack of updates been real busy with work lately.
I just did a nutrient change today.
2oz micro
2oz grow
2oz bloom
1oz voodoo
1oz aqua shield
1oz liquid sea kelp
1oz humic acid
1oz bud candy
In a nylon stocking I have added
1 cup earth worm castings
1/2 cup myco that's for soil
1tbs myco madness
Ph to 5.8
I have also switched them to flower today and have taken a picture that I will post later tonight.
So far this light is doing a pretty good job for me through the veg. Let's see how it does through bloom.

So here are a few pictures of my two plants. They are doing really well. I just switched them to flower but the timer failed lol so ill have to reset the timer. overall this setup is working out great. The tent, The SS400, The DIY aero system that I have worked the kinks out of. and the pump outside the chamber is doing a lot better than the one I have with a pump in the res. Well ill have some flowers t show on these plants in the coming weeks so stay tuned 8-)

Very, very green, I hope that's the strain and you don't end up with too much nitrogen. ;)
