When I was young we had to hunt beavers for their oil because we lived away from the city and electric often cut off. The Canadian forests shielded us from the winds but my father always said it was better to kill more beavers than less, that way we'd never have to worry about being cold. My tendency to like overkill is truly pathological.

AND WOAHHH! A remote controlled ballast you can dim! So you don't have to run your full 3000W when you're just in early vegging. That's smart.
PS. The beaver story is a total invention.

With a 13 plant limit SCROG sounds efficient, 8 plants in a 4 x12 would have to be trained/pruned to take advantage of all of the space anyway. You might not even need 8, 2 per 1000w may be fine if you can train them well enough.

The 3x12 suggestion was good because my room is very long but not too wide.

Instead of running a perpetual grow in which I switch plants from room to room, I prefer to just setup an entirely other grow area and time it so harvests are spaced evenly.

In July I am renting a new space in which I'd be able to build another 3x12 grow room if I wanted.

Would you still have a 13 plant limit?

The limit is actually 15, I was reserving two spots for two mothers (I'd like to grow CBD Skunk Haze and CBD Yummy so I have some variety). I suppose I could just take fresh cuttings each time instead of wasting two plants as mothers.

The limit however will be lifted in 2014 if I were to get a commercial grow license. At that time the limit will be between 80 and 99 plants.

With a 3 x 12 area I don't know if I'd go with the 1000w lights. That would be 83+w/sqft which is a bit extreme. I've known people that went over 100w/sqft but that's double the typical HID coverage. At 1000w per 4x4 (62+w/sqft) you'd be doing well. 4 x 600w means more cost but it would be a better fit for the area. Pros and cons...

Is that 15 plant limit just for flowering or does it include clones and veg too?

Unfortunately it covers everything.

So 2x 1000w HID in a 4x8 then? In a 4x8 I could get two OG Vertical Reflector to match the awesome look of the matrix ballast ;)

2x1000w in a 4x8 gives you more options as far as genetics go. You might wait until you see how well you like your LED test or you can start with the HID and compare.

I'm not sure about those vertical hoods but they might be ok. I've heard nothing about them...good or bad.

Am I still calculating 1 plant per 4 sqft even with 1000w HID? so 8 scrog'd plants in the 4x8?

Philips or Hortilux bulbs?

8 in flower + 2 mothers leaves 5 so you couldn't take cuttings until after harvest which slows you down a bit. *If* you can get by with 6 in flower then you could take cuttings weeks before harvest to get a jump start on the next one. That assumes near perfect success rooting your clones though. It would take more work/time to fill in your screen with 6 compared to 8 so, again, pros and cons.

Low plant limits make for fewer options. :(

I've used both and saw no difference in plant quality or yield so get the cheaper one.
