Just for you Beef ;)

I damaged some roots when I transferred the rooter plugs to the bigger res on seedling #2. I think this might explain why one of the leaf looks like this? Otherwise the plant looks healthy.

Oh and I finished building my screen today. It's ready to be hanged!

Very nice roots!

Somehow I missed the part where you said that you're using a screen. We're talking SCROG here, right?

Is the Ez Cloner worth purchasing for rooting clones? Or is there an equivalent DIY method that delivers similar methods?

You can search the internet for DYI cloner and get several links... ;)

I found many, I asked more in the sense of mister vs aeroponic designs, which you prefer and why?

Many people share their methods but they don't often mention the cons (only pros) so it's difficult to know which is best when you've never done this.

I started cloning in vermiculite + perlite, then I tried rockwool cubes. After that I used the bubbler style (like DWC buckets) with air stones and pump for a long time because it was simple and didn't have a lot of parts. I don't know why but I never had great luck with cloning so I always had to take a lot of cuttings to make sure I had enough rooted clones. My next cloner will be a fogger (fogponics) style. I can't say that one style is definitively better than others but some are more complicated/expensive than others.

Been reading on that for 30 minutes. Some folks are growing an entire plant using the fogponic system? I thought people transferred the rooted clones from the cloner into a DWC/RDWC or other hydro system afterwards.

If yields are comparable it would be a lot greener and more environmentally friendly to grow that way. Water is free here but it doesn't mean we should waste it if we can use that precious resource more efficiently.

We had a member here that used a hybrid dwc/fogponics system, I wouldn't. Nutrient solutions can be pretty corrosive and his fogger shorted out, tripped a breaker and turned off his lights, etc. For a clear water cloner that shouldn't be a problem.

Water is never "wasted" unless we take it out of our atmosphere, it's merely used and converted into other states. It eventually gets recycled no matter what. A properly maintained hydroponics system (excluding DTW) shouldn't "waste" water (nutrients) anyway. If you throw out a lot you're using too big of a res or replacing it too often. Also, a plant needs X amount of water no matter what hydro system you pick, it just gets it in different ways depending on styles. Most of the whole "green movement" is just silly...imho.

My father is an environmental engineer and the problem with water is the cost of constantly recycling and treating it. The wasteful argument has more to do with the maintenance fees and energy requirements. If fogponics could run grows in smaller reservoirs than DWC/RDWC systems and provide similar yields than you'd use less water.

The argument is moot if the method is inferior anyway.
