I know DJ is a respected breeder but I've never heard of Kyle. I'll bring out the big gun on this one: Ed Rosenthal

Below is a direct quote from Ed Rosenthal who is a marijuana growing guru:

"Marijuana plants photosynthesize as long as they receive light as well as water, air, nutrients and suitable temperature. Photosynthesis is the process in which plants use the energy from light (primarily in the blue and red spectrum's) to combine carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air and water (H2O) to make sugar while releasing oxygen to the air.

Plants use sugars continuously to fuel metabolic processes (living) as well as for tissue building. The plant combines nitrogen ( N ) with the sugar to make amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. They are the substance of plant tissue. When the light is off, the plant's metabolic processes, respiration and growth, continue.

The plant can photosynthesize continuously so it produces the most energy and growth when the light is on, continuously. Continuous light does not stress the plant, which reacts somewhat mechanistically to it.

Plants under an 18-6 light-dark regimen are producing sugar only three quarters of the time. They are thus growing at only 75% of their potential. Leaving the light on continuously will result in bigger plants, faster, which leads to higher yields."

DAY 4
Burning has continued and leafs curling down still.
Replacing 3/4 of water, ppm now at 270 and ph 5.8, 3/8 have roots out the net cups.
DAY 5
ppm still 270 and ph 5.8 burning has slowed down but continues. 4/8 roots
DAY 6
Still looking worse. Flushed everything and replaced water. ppm 235, 5/8 roots

DAY 7 HELP!!!
HELP, For the first time fan leaves developed black spotting all over them very quickly, nute burning got much worse, and most of the leaves have curled down. 7/8 roots out. I need help whats going on here? any advice for fixing? I have pictures of day 7 below.

i'd dump and refill with just pH'd water. maybe some supethrive if you have some on hand. let them go for 24 hrs at least and see if they perk up a bit.

what are you feeding them? what type of water do you use?

Yea I tried flushing and using just ph'd water yesterday but that's when all the black spots started last night. I'm using tap and it's ppm is at 230 so it's not really just ph water. I know of people who just let the chlorine evaporate out over night which I did, but just recently looked up that my city uses chloramine which is much worse and won't evaporate so that doesn't help either. I'm using heavy 16 nutes with all there additives besides foliar. I started them with veg a,b, roots, prime, and finish, I started them off as suggested but found out it was way too strong. I just talked to a friend who uses heavy 16 and he said that I need to aim 200ppm under what they recommend.

well, if i were you i'd head to town and pick up some RO or distilled water. i personally use RO from walmart. i bought 3 of the 5 gal jugs and refill as needed.

basically, you want 0 ppm in your water. that way you know what is in it (whatever you put in it) and nothing else. muni water is usually crap to use for growing. i am lucky to have good well water. i mix half RO and half well in my res.

i would start with just 24 hrs of plain 0ppm water. then maybe a light dose of cal/mag. no nutes just yet.

and never follow instructions on a bottle of nutes. you will hardly ever need full strength nutes unless the plants are huge. when i start off with clones, i take the formula on the bottle and start at 5 % of that. it's better to have too little than too much nutes.

my clones are now 4 weeks old and they are only at 20% strength to give you an idea of how to ramp up nutes as they grow.

if running to town is not efficient, then you'll probably need an RO filter of some type down the line. make your own water.

Thanks RKY I will be picking up some water now that I know how crappy my water is. Do you think these will recover fine or will it damage final product. I'm asking because where I got my clones they will exchange them all for new ones with-in 7days if there not starting too well even though it was my fault. Should I start over and just loose one week of grow time or fight to save these? Really on the fence right now don't know how easy it is to fix these problems.

that's hard to say.

in dwc, whenever you have an issue, the first thing i do is dump the nutes and give them 24hrs of just pH'd plain water. after that time, you'll have a clean slate to start from.

they might be OK but they could be toast already.

if there is no charge for new clones, i'd start over. when you get the new ones, just ph'd water for 24 hrs. i would have a bottle of cal/mag on hand too. keep your pH at 5.8 so you can at least eliminate that as an issue.

then work your way into the nutes. start very light. 50 to 100ppm.

let's say you start at 100ppm. if the next day, you are at 95ppm then you know they are eating the nutes. which is good.

the learning curve for dwc/hydro is very steep and alot can go wrong really quickly. that's why a flush is always the first thing to do.

Thanks I will probably start over and I was hoping my flush would fix it just didn't realize how crap my water was I was using. I think I will start fresh and use r/o water and see how that goes.
