first led experience

Postby spikey » Fri Mar 07, 2014 1:11 pm

Hi everyone!
First of all sorry for my poor english..

I need some advice..
I have a grow room 60x60x160 cm and I used until last monday with a 200 w cfl, now I have a ufo led 147 w (I know..it's not the best but my budget is limited these days...)

what would be the best distance from the top?

I have 4 on the grow room and they're ak47 af..they have 2 months on these days and are very late..they are grown with the cfl..
maybe because the cold..or because the cfl was almost at the end of her life..last year was better...

and what would be the best distance next time when I will start with led?
I heard about 60 cm, is that correct?

Sorry, but is my first experiment with led and I have to learn a few things..

Thanks

Welcome to the forums!

Assuming that the LED is rated in actual draw you still need more light if you're growing/flowering cannabis in a 2x2x5 area and you'd want to flower while they're small.

Cold can affect growth, you want to be in the 78-80F range.

Without knowing about your lights I can only guess that 12" above the canopy would be a better starting point based on the size/shape of the light.

Good luck!

Thank you for the answer.

It seems that the plants are more compact after 8 days with led but I know it's too cold...12°C...(I think it's about 55°F)....too low....

I hope that it would be better between a month when I'll start the new seeds for the season....

My ufo led is 39 red 3w 630 nm and 10 blue 3w 460 nm

That actually makes it worse.

3w diodes are weak and don't penetrate much and 147w "LED watts" will be even less when measuring "actual draw watts". You're likely under 90w actual draw which means it will only cover an even smaller area.

55F is too cold, you may have to add heat for a while. :(

Good luck...

first thanks for your advices!
I'm new to this world, especially with led...

I think it was something better...but I have to say it's better than last week..

maybe for the ending life of cfl lamp or for the could outside they're not grown like they did last year with less living hour of the lamp..

my grow room is in a cement box out in the garden, previously it was a sort of garden box..and it's not warmed..

but maybe I could use for vegetative and put the plants out for spring and summer..

usually we have good weather here between april - november..
