SME - should I supplement cal-mag with the lucas formula since I am using coco? is there enough in micro to get by? how low of a ratio would you go under LEDs? Strain appears to be indica dom. thanks.

Another thing that's great about these lights, if anything goes wrong or a diode goes out they send you a new one. One of the quadrants on my 800 light had a few leds go out, bummed me right out. I called them they sent me a new one, and I sent the current one I was using back in a box they provided. so my plants never went without light, pretty cool, I think the warrantee last 5 years to, time will tell, I was watching some videos on the internet, The manufacturers have been running them for 5+years apparently and say there's only about a 10% loss. only time will tell, if these things do actually last as long as they say that would be stellar. Worst case if in 5-10 years it doesn't work well enough for flowering at least ill have a sick cloning light, and veg light lol. The black dog units are pretty sick too there uv bulbs are built in and run the whole time, they also have IR specturms, ive never used one check out the grow journals on those there pretty cool units

LF was designed for hydroponics but if you're using RO water it might be a good idea. While LF was designed for hydro, greatfulh3ad (on another forum) came up with a modified LF for coco, you should look it up and see if you want to try that. ;)

wow- thanks for turning me on to greatfulh3ad's coco post. the guy seems to know what he's doing. h3ad uses. I am concerned with burning the plants. so if I use RO water and follow h3ad's 6/9 formula exactly I believe I should meet my plants' nutrient requirements under this lighting source.

another question about this modified LF is how often he says to feed with plain water. in the beginning of the post, h3ad says he hydrates the medium with plain water every other feeding. later on in his posts it seems as though he feeds regularly with nutrient water. please correct me if my reading is incorrect.

i'm going to use this post as a reminder of h3ad's ratios at different plant phases since I have both tabs open.

beginning 3-4 weeks of flowering: 6ml/micro, 9ml/bloom
middle of flower transition(1week): 6ml/micro, 12ml/bloom
end of grow cycle: 0ml/micro, 9ml/bloom
flush optional

supplement: cal/mag and possibly p/k 13/14

Heisenberg - I am also a huge BB fan. friends compare me to WW because for some reason they think I am ruthless. lol. anyways, i am in week 5 of pistil production. i don't really go by the start of 12/12. especially when growing from seed. i find things always go longer than the suggested flowering time. for me, suggested flowering times match up better when i start at pistil formation - usually 2-3 weeks after switching to 12/12 and stretching has mostly stopped. clones have a slightly shorter flower time because they are sexually mature from the get-go.

I don't know if h3ads formula is optimal but if you used it as a base and supplemented as needed you'd have a decent starting place. Read the whole thing and you'll see people using modified h3ad with various products, you might like that better.

H3ad used well or spring water I think but low ppm. He started with epsom salt, then dropped it, then tried cal-mag then dropped it after he moved and had a new water source or something. I don't remember what his final conclusion was on that formula but it does give a person a good starting point that they can tweak as needed...
