Those curled margins and yellowed veins look better today than before but you probably went too strong too soon. We also need to know basics like pH, temp (water and ambient), humidity, etc.

Full strength Lucas (LF) is 8/16 per gallon and that's way too strong for seedlings under LED. What is your current mix?

Disclaimer:
I still use HID and I'm NOT an LED expert. All of my LED knowledge is from other parties or research so I can't say from first hand experience one way or another. I also run a medical grow consulting business in SoCal.

Yep 8/16. :? Which is what I used with my HPS but where do LEDs fall if fluorescents use 5/10 and HIDs use 8/16?

My Environment
pH: 5.95
Ambient temp: Hi- 82F
Lo- 75F
Water temp: 78F
Humidity: 35%

Thanks for any help, SME :)

hey xarlan,

2 things that I see that should/might need to be improved:

water temps @78. are your roots OK? are they white and healthy? no slimy root mess? the Aquashield will help but if you could get the temps closer to 68F you would be in better shape.

humidity @35%. perfect for flowering but should be up in the 60 to 70% RH for vegging. can you add a small humidifier to your tent/room?

I'm curious how people decide how high/low to keep the light. You said:

I decided to lower the Solarflare to 18 inches just to see how she takes it. If all is good I might try 12 inches but not go any lower than that.

Did you ask the manufacturer their guidance on height?

Yeah a res chiller and humidifier are not an option unfortunately. Not ideal conditions I know but my expectations for this grow weren't that high to begin with lol.

The need for stealth and the lack of any kind of budget makes for a sub par grow this time around but I have to try and make the best with what I've got. ;)

Yeah the recommended distance is 12-24 inches. Although I'm curious to see if she can take 12 inches ;), I think I'll keep the light where it is for now. :)

how do your roots look?

I just starting using Zone by dutchmaster in my res on this grow. I use light strength because I have a chiller so my temps are OK. there is a max strength that you can use if your temps are high. You might want to check it out. You won't need to use Aquashield if you do use Zone. If you keep your roots healthy and happy, you'll have a much better chance of having a better grow. But if your roots go to crap, you're grow will be done.

Could you post a pic or 2 of your roots?

SO! I called California Lightworks and they said something completely different from the spec sheet. He (Brandon) recommended 30 inches the first month then down 6 inches per month until 18 inches and ride that to the finish line. So that's what I'm going to do. :) I called the wife to have her immediately raise it lol.
That little guy is stronger than I give it credit for ;)

Now for the nutes I need to research Lucas for LEDs. I have to figure out if it's the same as fluorescents, HIDs or somewhere in the middle. My guess is the latter.

CLW suggests 18-24", according the the specs, but 30" for seedlings should be fine too.

I'd say that LF for LED would be 6-12 or 7-14 depending on the grow and genetics but that assumes fully rooted and actively vegging or flowering. For seedlings, I'd go half until they get established and take off.

Do your roots hit the water yet? Root pictures? ;)

I couldn't get the camera to focus properly but here is the best I could do. A couple tiny roots are past the net pot. They're pearly white no signs of rot or any badness :)
