They list specs on the draw but it's nice to see it on a meter.
They way they claim that the lights cover so much more area in veg is by making the light higher and lowering the w/sqft. The SF uses the same high powered 5w diodes as the SS series so, since vegging plants are typically shorter, they are strong enough to raise higher in veg to cover more area too. I'd start at 18" and work it up if you need to cover more area. YMMV...

Yea most defiantly! With the SS 400w i started veg at 12 " and kinda kept working up from there. I seen on here how other started a lot higher then 18 " and worked down. If i am not mistaken i believe CFL said that the 110w will cover a 4x4 area at 36 ". Now that's why i looked towards this 110w instead of the 220w. I cant remember off hand what the 220w was. But if i am not mistaken. The 110w almost was as good as what the 220w did. However the 110w shits the bed in bloom. Mines only a straight veg. Thats all i wanted it for. In a 3x3 tent in between 12 - 18 inches is what i had in mind as well. However the " Autos " that i want to grow next will be not a great test run IMO. Just for the reason being is they just grow plain and simple. But i have read alot that the autos really seem to like LEDs.
Buy the way if anyone from CFL is reading this ! iam not part of the growers program. But i have purchased 2 lights now from you and please feel free to send a discount my way at anytime!!! lol sorry thought i would throw that in there! I am tho up to this point very happy with the 400w even tho there is a 440w out now! and iam very sure the SF 110w is going to do just fine for what i need it for!
Anyway today is a exciting day ! its the first flush day!! following the fox farm feeding chart scheduled ( Even tho i am 5 weeks in veg ) and both plants are a bit short of 12 inches i feel it time to flush and in 3 days from now flip the switch to 12/12 ! Heres a couple pics of the fat little ladies! Skywalker is shy of 11 " Berry is at 9.5" . Id go longer but after reading and reading i hear that Skywalker OG has a tendency to take off come flower. So it kinda sucks to flip the switch this early on Berry but it is what it is!

I think a 3x3 is pushing it for 85w, even in early veg but they are your plants. I wouldn't go taller than 12" of veg if you're using LED grow lights to flower with too. LED grow lights lack real penetration power; the 5w diodes help but 12" before flipping is as tall as I'd want to go with LED.
They seem happy...

They are happy! and healthy ! what do you mean 3x3 is pushing it ? Like CLW saying that it could go higher and veg wider or my tent at 18" for vegging wouldnt be enough ? I just want to use the 110w to start with. Then i can cycle half way through the veg and move them in to my other tent with the 400w to finish the veg cycle and then flip to bloom.
Since i am new to this i figured that with the 110w in a 3x3 grow space at a start height of 16- 18 inches and only 2-3 plants that it would be efficient enough to start vegging up till week 2-3 somewhere in there. LOL please tell me ill be ok with that cause i dont really want to buy another light! lol.
2 or 3 small plants in early veg won't take up a 3x3 space but if they did then you'd have less than 10w/sqft and that's not much. I prefer to veg cannabis at 25w/sqft. Remember the higher the light source the less light that actually gets to the plants. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverse-square_law
You'd be better off vegging in a 2x2 or smaller but you don't have to use all of the 3x3 space for plants.

Yea no for sure. This for me isnt about quantity at all. Its more about keeping things small and the best quality i can get. Even in the 3x3 tent with 3 plants at the most amount of room that i would probably take up would be equivalent to a 2x2 tent. So with that in mind. What do you think for height would be my best light placement. 12 or 18 inches. I said 18 before... but now iam second guessing myself. lol. I am hoping that this all works.
CLW suggests 18-24" from the canopy, I'd start at 18" and go from there...

Well today i can say is a pretty exciting day for my! After 6 weeks of Vegging out and 18/6 light cycle is now time to make the flip to 12/12 ! Skywalker is standing at a 11.5 - 12 inch mark and Berry is at 10- 10.5 inch mark. Both plants look very healthy and happy ! The only thing that is kinda weird to everything up until now is there PH level. This whole time ive been feeding them with distilled water. After giving them todays feeding both there PH levels have dropped. Iam not to sure if thats due to the flushing that i gave them last Wednesday. Which i used Fox Farm Sledgehammer or not. Ill have to keep a eye out next time to see if there is a change.
