Just a quick update. Grow tent is in and setup, seedlings have been started and are sprouting. Will be putting them into the system and finishing the setup tonight hopefully. Will post some new pictures in the next couple days.

Wow, nice setup. Are those filters that I see on the top of the fans on the SolarStorm? I'm impressed :o

So I spoke with George from CLW about swapping out my Solarstorm as it wasn't really working as far as the coverage that i was needing. So here is my new setup. 4 full cycle solar flares! Here they are all setup. Some of my plants have really taken off but some are still starting out. It has been a task getting some of these temperamental exotic pepper seeds to germinate. Some came right up some took weeks to get up and then didn't make it. Also, for anyone who was thinking of trying sure to grow. Not really a fan. It is ok, but i had terrible results trying to get seeds started in it.

Anyways. On to the pictures!

Is your hydroponic system a flood and drain or a mister system?

What is the size of your grow tent?

Are all of your hydro plant holes equally covered by light or are some of them a little better or worse than others?

System is a DWC/NFT hybrid system. Water flows in one side and out the other. However the pipes are always about half way full.

Tent is 7x7
With the 4 flares i can cover all holes pretty decently, however you really wouldn't get the most light growth out of the plants until they reached mid growth because the lights have to be pretty high up to get the coverage required. So if I wanted to full cover everything from seedling to mature and have the lights 1 foot above the plants from start to finish you really would probably need 6 lights. But i could def manage with 4 without a problem.

This system is by far not the best design. There are tons of things i will do differently my next go round.

Do plants like to have their roots in water?

From what I understand, as long as there is enough oxygen and nutrients in the water the roots don't have a problem. You have to maintain a pretty specific temp/oxygen/nutrient ratio however for them to be happy. I'm new to hydroponics and had to trash a couple of my first plants due to miss balanced ratios. Once you get it right though, your plants will grow extremely quick.

I will have an update with some more pictures soon.
