led for 5x5

Postby dabhe4d » Thu Oct 23, 2014 1:42 pm

Wooot upgradeng my flowering growspace to 5x5 I need some more lights..

Currently running 2 clw solarflare 220s in a 2x3'8
Space with great results..

The plan for the 5x5 is 16 plants in 4 groups of 4 perpetual harvest.

What do you think I should add to my 2 solarflares to light up the 16 plants??

One thing that might be an issue is that I only haveone 15 amp breaker I can use for the whole growroom.. exaust fan fans and lights.. im sure ill be fine just can be anything too crazy lol .
Thanks!

hey dab,

25 sq ft x 50 wt/sqft is 1250 watts minimum.

you already have 440 watts with the 2 flares. so you need about 800 more. maybe 2 SS400's instead of one SS800 which would allow you to space the lights out evenly in your room

be careful with your electrical: you only want to run a breaker at 80% constant load. so you really only have 12A available. 1250 watts is 10.4A so you now only have 1.6A for fans, etc.

good luck with the new space!

Dab,

I now that everyone loves the CLW but if you are interested in another light, I am currently working on something similar with the ColoGrow365, CG40X5. The idea was to add at least 800W to a poorly lit space. Unfortunately, I have no pictures.

This grow room is bigger than what you have but the idea was basically the same, add about 800W to evenly light the space but I have to keep the amp draw down due to the available current for the circuit.

The CG40X5 are only 140W (actual draw not rated) and draw about 1050mA for current. They are all 5W diodes and great lights with UVB diodes included in the design. I am going with 6 of these to add 840W (actual draw again). They can daisy chain together so it makes it easy to install them with a few plugs and cords.

According to the spec sheet, they only use 1050mA so you should have a total of 6.3 amps going to these lights. I am not sure about the amp draw of the CLW lights you are using but this might give you a little more head room on the circuit and allow you to easily space the lights for proper coverage.

Just a thought. Let me know how it works out for you.
