I've seen other suspicious claims but *this* one is just too silly to believe. The cost on the parts alone is over 10 times that. Quit making things up to try to look intelligent, it's not working.

Prove it with a grow journal and pictures to back it up. I think you're all talk, you clearly don't know what you're talking about and you, obviously, make things up...

solar power is different wen u have a constant draw. for example if u have 1 1000 hps it would take 2000 watts of solar power to run it for one hour. to run 2x500 watt leds which is 1000 watts of constant draw only takes 1300 watts of solar power per hour. sure u didnt know that huh?? i will. ill have pics up soon. and ill put up pics of house and all im all powered by my self its called self sefficent not realying on the bullshit government. all u idiots gonna be shit outs luck wen it all fails money aint gonna mean shit all back to barter no gas cant drive anywhere no stores to buy shit at cuz money wont be nothing all chaos ppl robbin stores that wont stay stocked lol yall have fun with that ima be poppin heads frm a mile away sittin on my roof. lol will have pics up soon. yall dnt know shit bout solar and water energy. probly didnt even know bout co2 generators go on keep using co2 tanks and wastin money. did u even know that if u pump co2 in grow room it boost growth and productivity too?? yall probly just grow pot lol totally diff. i used to have a smoke shop in cali. most likley grown more pot than yall have ever seen in yalls lifes talkin about 3x 30ftx80ft ACd and vented greenhouses all pot. it was all good till them bs ass feds came in but i knew they were coming and packed up shop and got my shit outa there. so took the money i had and retained frm old product and started a mechanic shop and a solar, wind, and water power company. makin bank not to mention the few internet buisnesses we have. so money aint an issue. 5k aint shit. so im far frm a newbie. just tryin newer and better methods of self sefficentcy. so y my grow room runs its self for free yall keep payin for yalls power and keep supply big chains with money. oviously yall dnt know about investment. how long do yall think yall can run a grow room on 5k??

SisterMaryElephant wrote:If you're using the whole 12x12 for growing you'd need about 6000w to get 40w/sqft and that assumes that 40w/sqft is enough for what you're growing. Some plants require more, some less. Different plants and different heights will certainly require multiple lights, either way.

That 40w/sqft figure is utter rubbish.

Most plants are only around the 1% efficient in taking sunlight and converting it. The sun on avaerage has 1kw per meter squre, or 100w per sqft. At 1% that means the plant only ever takes in 1w per sqft. The idea is to produce as much light in the correct wavelength to get that 1% to the plant. incandesant bulbs are useless for this and you'll end up needed around the 80-90w/sqft, hps and metal halides are better at the 40-60w/sqft figure you stated, LEDs on the other hand are designed with very tight light spectrum meaning that you only need 2-5w/sqft depending on the quality of led's, the mixture of spectrum and what plant your growing. It's this low figure which is why LED's are considered the best option as the efficient for what the plant needs.

You've clearly never grown indoors...

You might be able to get away with less watts with crops like lettuce but not much else...
