Meow, humans!
Welcome to the first of many Human Catnip Adventures!
Today marks the first entry.
Three girls are now in their new home.
Inside the box this grow is Blue Dream, Amnesia, and Afghan Skunk.
We're running a 3x3, with a SolarStorm 440w LED.
Current litter used is Fox Farms Ocean Forrest soil mixed with 20% Perlite.
Cat-snacks on the menu is the Fox Farm Trio OG Line.
This grow journal will be focusing on the SolarStorm series through the entire process.
Opinions are not reflected by said company and is unique to my own.
Initial, first thoughts on the SolarStorm 440w:
The unit is a massive 18lbs, which is being held up by ratchet ropes via Survival Gorilla.
Wattage being pulled from the wall runs at 250watts in Veg mode, with an effective output of nearly 650w.
Curiosity of UV switch is on the mind, but we will toy with that in the future.

After only one day of transplanting our seedlings to their first home, we have two sproutlings!

I'm not sure where you got the "effective output" figure but the actual draw is the effective output with LED grow lights. The idea that small LED lights are as effective as larger HID lights is a marketing myth.
CLW suggests using the UVB for the last 2-4 weeks of flower.

Opened the canopy today and noticed the girls were heat stressed.
The SolarStorm is sitting already at 24 inches, but I may need to move it higher or use CFL's for seedlings as they seem to be overwhelmed by the light. The guide recommends anywhere from 18-26 inches though, so If anyone has any suggestions regarding the unit and seedlings I'd be most appreciative.

M, I did not see in your post if you were using an exhaust fan. You cannot put the light in a tent with no vents, Even for a LED it still puts out a lot of heat.

I have 440 CFM Exhaust Fan, yes. My tent size is 3x3x8.

Hi Meow, nice looking setup. I'm wondering what the temps are inside your tent and at the canopy? I looked but didn't see if you posted.
They're not looking too heat stressed to me... Maybe just wait a bit to see. 24" with a 440 should be fine.

I'd want to know the temps and humidity too...also those cups looks dry to me.

Thank you very much!
Temps range from 75-83 (California refuses to stop being 95 degrees outside as of lately and I'm stuck on the top floor)
Humidity is 35% in the morning and 45% by 3pm
This week I transplanted the girls into their final home of 5 gals as they were becoming root bound. They are doing very well now, and the temperature issue is not a problem now that the lights have been raised and are no longer 24" from the floor in solo cups.
At the very early stages of seeding, the heat was a bit overwhelming for them being that close to the floor with the exhaust pulling in from the top. I realize hot air rises, but It was actually hotter on the bottom of the tent (as very newborn seedlings) then it was at the top with the exhaust pulling air. It was a real pain in the ass to get rid of heat until I transplanted into 5 gals. During that time It was more efficient to actually put the exhaust at the bottom instead of the top until they got transplanted.
Here's an update of all three girls this week. I'm hoping I can start to feed next week.
