Time for the weekly update..I took these pictures yesterday, which was day 60 of flower, day 98 overall. Every girl got a nice flush today, this is the second flush for the CBD Magma and the Critical Kush..they are pretty much ready to harvest now, I am planning on letting them dry in the soil for another 2-3 days before I take them.

Critical nice and ready

Variety is nice but it complicates production... ;)

Since they're done or almost done it wouldn't hurt to ease up on the nutrients...if you haven't already. ;)

Hey all, time for a quick update. But first, SME, (and others), your thought about stopping the nutrients. I actually had stopped all nutrients, and had just finished a 2nd flush in 5 days. This is what happens to my plants after a strong flush (and if I do NOT feed afterwards).

Within a day, the leaves brown up, looking like they are burned. My local grower friend (and some online sources) said that this is simply the plant pulling what it needs out of the leaves because it is not available any longer in the soil, and in his opinion, while not pretty, this results in a quicker cure and sweeter smoke because the plant is already starting the cure process while still alive by using the stored starches...

Since I flush with ZERO water (000 ppm) , I'm thinking that this does indeed leave the soil "empty" of nutrients theoretically.

Any thoughts?

So these past 10 days, I harvested everything. On day 61, I took the CBD Magma and the Critical Kush; I took the Purple Wrecking Crew and the Fruity Chronic Juice on day 68, and the Blueberry finally on day 71. The Blueberry hairs were still mostly white, despite the Trichomes turning amber...so much different from my first blueberry plant on my first grow.

I am in the midst of drying them out, and will post pics once I trim them and put them into my CVaults. The first 2 are nearly ready already, as I inadvertently let my RH get a little low and they got a little too dry before I caught it. But....I just vaporized the CBD Magma to see how it came out, and a mere 11 days after harvest is VERY NICE !!! I can only imagine what a good 2 months cure will do for it!

I took a look through my first grow journal, and I need to confirm an observation I have been thinking about. Despite replacing the UVB lights this grow, the visible trichome development on my plants seems to be steadily decreasing since the first grow up to today.

When I looked at the Blueberry plant from last year in particular, and the one I just harvested, there is no comparison...last year's girl was FROSTY, and this years girl required high magnification to even see anything...and it wasn't just that one plant....the entire 1st crop looked like Christmas morning all glittery...nothing like that since, despite using the exact same seeds...

Thoughts ?

As always, thanks to you all for your advice and feedback! Planning the next grow right now!

Hi ICB,

First off, I think your buds look amazing. The CBD... I can't even say. It's magnificent.

As far as your flushing/leaf yellowing question, I'd be inclined to think you're doing it right. The photos I see below look like perfectly normal fan leaves at the end of a plants life. Heck I've seen them much yellower and more nutrient deficient before harvest, and the buds end up great.

I don't think you'll ever get to 000 ppm in your medium, no matter how much you flush I believe there will always be something left in there. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I think it's almost impossible to get even a soilless medium back to inert and nutrient/salt free once it's had a living organism and nutrients in it.

As far as your observation that your trichrome production may be going down since your first grow, may I humbly suggest that we look at your growing medium as a potential reason? You remarked on my thread that you use FFOF and FFHF, and haven't done anything to your medium in over a year... and I'm hesitant to say anything because I had so many medium related problems, but perhaps a couple fresh bags of Fox Farms Ocean Forrest and Happy Frog might bring back some of your plants ability to drench the calyxes with trichromes. You certainly have a right to be completely happy with the combination so far, especially if you are still growing chronic like that and not amended your soil for multiple grows already. Clearly you know what works, when to flush, when to feed, and I've never used your medium before, but I think you would only see improved results with new soil/soilless substrate.

Hope that helps... if you're planning your next grow now's a great opportunity to freshen things up underground! I'm really looking forward to seeing how your next grow goes!

A plant will "share" mobil nutrients, I don't flush though so I wasn't thinking about flushing...
