I would think not. The plants grow towards the light. The wider is just a result of growing taller.

I would cover all light sources. Then just let them do their thing. If I'm not mistaken, light during the dark cycle will extend the flower period.

I dropped a towel on the floor next to the switch to cover it's glow and put elect tape over the display. And got caught by the timer again!! No lights or glows at all now...

While in there tonight I pulled a tape on my biggest girl....34.5"!!! And she has a few sisters that aren't far behind her...

Busy, busy, busy!!

One of the two lights I was buying from a friend arrived DOA....so waiting to resolve that. Which caused a scramble to get an equal light to replace it...which is now on it's way! Missed a FedEx delivery yesterday(all my ventilation stuff!) , so determined not to leave the house, waiting for their 2nd attempt!

Well things are just rockin along... Thru topping off, I have gotten PPM back to 1200-1250, Ph steady at 5.8. Still seeing a little vertical grow but I think is has slowed down...I hope anyway!! Everything looks pretty healthy up top, but lack of penetration to the lower branches has been causing them to be under developed....so I went through and trimmed a lot of them from the lower 2-3"....then worked my way up, trimming some of the fan leaves to allow more light to get lower.

I know there is a lot of debate on the subject of trimming... But in my thinking, if a part of the plant is dying that part can't be contributing to the over all good....so if clipped the resources used trying to keep that part alive can go else where in the plant where they might be of more benefit...

With all the light I have, it still doesn't seem to be enough... I was planning to pull the 357 Mags when the pair of SolarFlares are in place...but now I wonder if that is wise... One thing for sure....I know I let them got too big before flipping em to 12/12!!! That won't happen again!

Does anyone use Orca Film?? I am planning to build a "box" made of Orca covered panels, that will hang on a PVC frame, to go around all 4 sides of my Aeroflo ...thinking this will be more efficient use of the light that I have. Plus thinking the PVC frame will also provide good posts for stretching a screen for SCROG or whatever... Any suggestions here?

Seeing more & more white hairs and tiny buds forming....just seems to be slow going... Guess I am used to a veggie garden...where if I see a small cuke on the vine, I know I will be eating it in 2 days....lol

1) A part of the plant that is growing slowly due to not enough light isn't dying.
2) By pruning the plant while in flower you are causing stress which can make a plant turn hermaphroditic or reduce yield.
3) It's not a zero-sum game; part of the plant growing slowly isn't taking resources from another part of the plant, there's plenty of nutrients and water in the res to go around.
4) A part of the plant that is growing slowly doesn't use much resources.
5) A part of the plant that is growing slowly is still contributing to the photosynthesis process.

YMMV... ;)

Well I have been trying to figure out a way to deal with the size of these plants....or the difference in the size of these plants...there are about 6 that shot up beyond the rest....shadowing some, while causing others to stretch to get to the light. It's a mess and not what I had intended.....but here I am!

Is it too late for me to put some netting up and do a semi scrog type thing....bending the tops of the tallest over, to run under the netting... Would something like this get more even light to more bud sites as well as light down lower??? My biggest girl is now 36"!!! And the shortest is about 16".... As a result I have my light about 10-12" above tallest, which it too close for the tallest tips and it puts the light way above the little ones...and on one light I am about out of adjustment up unless I change my hangers......maybe another 8" as is.....

I know this is something better set in place early on, but I have to do something!! And I am thinking that if I stretch some netting across the grow, then bend the tallest ones under the netting...SLOWLY...and lower it little by little, maybe an inch or two each day, I might find a "sweet-spot" where all are sharing more equally in the light and are happier....

Will this work without screwing anything up in the process??

Thoughts, suggestions, ideas, criticism?? (I know I screwed up...so it's ok...)

Happy,

what happened my man??? lol. SME set you on the right path. the only thing i would add is that the lower buds won't fully develop into nice nugs if there is not enough light penetration. they will be fluffy hence the name "popcorn buds". but they are still very potent and you can either make hash with them (I do) or make weed butter with them.

And i would not worry about SCROG at this point. first off, you do the weaving during VEG not BLOOM. and since you just stressed the plants out by the trimming, I would leave them alone. Let them recover gently and hopefully they don't turn hermie on you.

Are you doing 1 strain? If so, they should grow at about the same rate.

One thing you should get if you dont' have is a pocket lighted microscope from radio shack. When they start getting close, you will need to look at the trichs to see when to harvest each plant. some will be done before others and you should be able to harvest each plant when each one is ready instead of one massive haul.

1 Strain?? I wish! I ended up with a mix of 3 strains and don't know which is which....except I believe the the larger ladies to be AK47...only because the friend that gave me the seed had monster plants with thick stalks....and these ladies fit the part!!

The others are going to be wait & see... :( I have since separated clone/mothers of each and will at least be able to grow all the same strain in the future.

I have a scope for when the time comes....

But what do I do about the height difference? Wouldn't a net help just bend them over a little, without hurting or stressing them? I mean if I could take the 36ers down even 6" over a week or so it would give the other girls a better chance??

Of the pair of SolarFlare200s one arrived DOA....so my Mags are still in place and I am using the solo SF for spot lighting around the corner...just until a replacement arrives, then the pair will go between the SS400s. It should be enough light...except my plants go too flippin big!

What can I do?????

I prefer one strain at a time but technically if a grower has multiple lights you COULD grow one strain per light so you could adjust for different heights and finish times but I prefer easy over complicated when it comes to strains. ;)

As Rocky said, I'd skip the scrog idea at this point; you could try to LST the taller ones but be careful. You'd be surprised how easily they can snap and that would be bad.

Live and learn... :D

Oh believe me, I am learning Sister!!!

I am already planning to follow a lot of the advise and knowledge I have gotten here in my next grow...even though I have another 4-6 weeks to see the results of this grow...

Thinking I will use your suggestion and just plant half the system at a time...ONE strain!!(Now that I have them separated!) FIMing...LSTing....on LF, with my Orca paneled "box" around them, no more than 2 weeks veg or 8"....and no trimming, after flower, unless it is ready to fall off on it's own?? So far.......

I have watched a couple videos on LSTing and read a couple of forums about it...guess I will give it a try tomorrow eve....I like one guys method, he uses a slip-knot...so the plant can be pulled little by little each day, without any re-tying... Sounds worth a try...I don't want my tops bleaching...

Thanx!
