Yeah, that's a general rule of thumb type deal, not a law of gardening.
Patience...

Well, I've made it to day 69!! But I don't know why I am still counting the days...lol
After the nute change, PPM & Ph are holding steady and both good.
Starting to see some red hairs, but most of them are connected to 2 plants. I realize now that having multiple strains isn't gonna make the next steps any easier! I figure I am gonna be doing a plant-by-plant harvest, or maybe a stalk-by-stalk harvest....
You count the days so you know how long the strain takes.

OK, now I am at day 71...and battling Ph drop!! PPM is fluctuating slightly but staying within a good range.. No visible ill affect on the plants that I can see...
Ph will drop from 5.9 to 5.6 in the course of a day! I bump it up, and the next day it is dropping again. This has been going on for two days.
Last Friday I changed water, so nutes are pretty fresh. I am wondering if during the reservoir change/rinse I managed to somehow break some roots free that are now decaying somewhere in my system... Could this be causing this issue?? Or ???
Any chance you got some dead stuff "stuck in the pipes"?
Will it level off at 5.6? Or will it keep dropping?
I've read that pH drifts up in veg and drifts down in mid to late flower. Not sure if that is true all the time or in certain cases or true at all. Ahhh, the internet.
Hey Rky, Yea, that is what I have been wondering...but haven't been able to find anything.
When I changed the res, I took my hose and blindly sprayed around in the res, trying to wash any crap to the drain if there was any. In hindsight, I am wondering if I should have done that....if there were roots dangling, I guess I could have cut them or broken them with the water spray??
The lowest it has gone...or the lowest I have let it get without adjusting is 5.6....so I don't know if it would keep going or not.
I searched a little and info did seem to conflict. I basically found the same as you plus one that stated unstable ph often happens in early flower.

So will small amounts of hydrogen peroxide...
Also RO water doesn't buffer very well so a little calmag sometimes helps.
One of the problems with NFT/Aero is the narrow channels can get filled with roots and make inspection harder but that's just another reason to keep the plants very small in those systems. So, yeah, you could have some broken diseased roots in there. Either try the enzymes or peroxide and keep an eye on it. You're almost done so I wouldn't go too drastic and start trying to separate tangled roots, you'll do more damage than good that way.

Thanx so much for the advise! I guess chalk it up to another newbie mistake?? At least this time I had an idea on the problem...that I caused...lol Still livin & learning...
I didn't give it a full dose but I have added about a half dose of Hygrozyme and adjusted Ph to 5.9...just to allow for a little slippage...
I'm running tap...but you did say my tap was about as good as RO. And that is something I did do different!!! DAYEM!
Ever since the "deficiency", I have been slipping about a 1/4 dose of cal/mag in with each top off...just for a little peace of mind.. This past weekend I figured they looked pretty good and had such a short time to go, I skipped the cal/mag. Just LF nutes and Aquashield.
Could they have gotten conditioned to the little bit of extra cal/mag? And then freaked when it wasn't there? They get enough from the nutes if Ph is right, don't they?
Yes, I agree...plants as well as roots got too big for this system and these lights...lesson learned!
Back when I snapped the pic of the roots the longest were starting to reach the drain tube that feeds into the res....I can't get to that drain tube without moving plant material, but am willing to bet they were hanging down out of the drain tube when I blasted the inside of the res!! And I bet I broke/damaged some!!! See, I am not able to lift the res cover without taking the system apart....each of the grow chambers rests on the reservoir top...so I only have a small access hole, which is too small to stick your head in and look around.... I was shooting in the dark...lol
