I'd say both are probably still "early" but they look better than the pics that were based on calendar time. They did fatten up some and probably will continue to get bigger and more dense. You need to work on the nute-burn next time too...

A little circulation is good but not directly blowing on them. Dark is better since light degrades THC. I'd be shooting for 63% but swings to 59% for the first few days won't kill anything. Boveda packs keep containers at 62% so that's probably a good target. Temps in the high 60s to low 70s are good.

Keep on keeping on...and be patient. ;)

I still use HID and I'm NOT an LED expert. All of my LED knowledge is from other parties or research so I can't say from first hand experience one way or another. I also run a medical grow consulting business in SoCal.

Yes, I agree that they are on the early side...but for months I have read how the the effects from the same plant will differ depending on what stage the trics are at when harvested....I have never had the chance to experience this first hand...until now. So I am looking at it as a chance to learn something more...and if all it costs me is a little size on the first couple of stalks picked I think it will be well worth the experience and knowledge... And I am hoping that it will help me to better "read" my plants and help decide when best to harvest in the future. Plus my reserves are running a little low...lol

I have already seen the evidence that patience will pay off, so believe me I do intend to see these girls through to the end...and will most likely end up with one or two going past prime...again, just so I have experienced it, hopefully to benefit future grows...

To bump the RH a bit in the drying area I have found that by just hanging a damp wash-cloth on a hanger nearby the RH went up 2% to 61%. The temp is holding at 72F, but there isn't much I can do to cool that area down beyond that, at least not in the "sunny South" during the summertime!!

Getting the cure right is scaring me a little...it has been a challenge getting to this point...I would hate to screw it up not getting the cure right!!! On another site I found step-by-step to a method where you chop, lightly trim, hang for 3 days...then layer it in paper bags with shredded paper keeping them apart for another 2 days, then final trim, cut from the stalks and place into jars.... People on that site swear by this method and say it is almost fool-proof, so I am gonna try it....but very nervous, being the first time I've had this much to process....just wanna get it right!!

Got my fingers crossed, watching, waiting and hoping!!

Curing methods differ depending on humidity levels. When I have low humidity I let the outside get a little crispy then I allow the buds to rehydrate by placing them in a sealed container. Repeat until RH stabilizes at 63%. When its humid outside I let the inner stems get dry enough to snap and I seal them to check RH. Curing takes place between 58 - 65% RH. Anything below 55 and curing stops

OMG, MrNiceGuy, Thank you so much!!! I think that little bit of info was the key I was missing!

The last plant I chopped, I trimmed, hung and jarred came out almost like hay and was about half strength of what I had hoped for....but in hindsight it was dried and cured in the grow room!! In there the RH sticks pretty close to 50%...I don't know that I have seen it hit even 55%....So it may have dried, but it would have never cured in that room??

So if that explains what happened with that last lady, because I did everything else step by step....but the thread didn't mention a suggested RH range or at what point no cure was gonna happen....

You may have set my mind at ease...a little!

Thank you again!! In my book you are a nice guy!!! LOL

Happy, yrs ago I grew a Afghan from seed, before there were seed shops, this one was in a bag that a friend brought back for there, there were actually 4 seeds, three germed and two were males. I grew outside and the plant was 5 ft tall and 6 feet across. It was dank, could smell it when I pulled off the hwy to my property and It was at least a quarter of a mile away. It was loaded with Nugs, thick tight buds.

Any way I cut it, hung it in a room in my trailer and every day I would check it and when I felt it was dry I would put them into a plastic bag for 24 hrs then rehang. I did this 5 or six times and then put it into hermetically sealed jars and would open the every two days to start and then every three days. I would leave them open for only a few hours.

We It filled 7 one gallon jars and man when I would open a jar the whole trailer would smell like skunk. I gave a lot of it to a friend who was suffering from cancer, he was able to eat and sleep.

Just remember to pay close attention to the curing process.

Peace out,

GR

Thanks for the advise GR!

I guess part of my fear....a lot of people have different ways of drying and curing...and they all seem to work for them. I will continue to worry until I find what works best for me, with the conditions that I have.

But I am thinking if I can maintain the right conditions...temp, hum, dark.. and stick to one proven method, step-by-step, I will get the result I am after, I hope... And once i figure out what works here I can fine tune a little if needed.

I want that skunk damn it!!!

I am thinking about building a medium size drying box out of the 1" foam insulating board that Lowes and HomeDepot sell. Then just run thin rods through the two side walls to hang the bud. Thinking light, air flow, temps & humidity might be easier to control in a small, tighter space... I live in the South so high summer temps are my biggest threat right now...I think..

I did find a better use for the hay tasting stuff(but I still don't want more of it!).... Today I strained my 2nd small batch of tincture....and I think I may be falling in love!! For all the years that this weed has been a part of my life I had never heard of it until a month ago...but I am going to spend some time and material playing....thinking if I get better material, it's just going to get better...and it already does me right.

I check you thread and am watching you grow, but I know less about soil growing than I do about hydro...so I can't offer much...but I want to see that cabinet done & working.

Good Luck & Keep Growing...

The method I am trying was posted by a dude goes by "rumpledforeskin" on GC....am I allowed to say that? He has like over 1000 replies and no one has neg to say...

He chops, does a rough trim and then hangs for 3 days. Then he has a trim party and when it is trimmed he layers it paper bags with layers of shredded paper in between the layers of bud. Leaves it like that for 2 days, stirs it up, lets it sit another day. Then he places it in glass jars. His target is to keep it curing for a month...but admits he rarely makes it that long...lol

Sounds good, but I am a numbers person...and the dude gives no ranges....Thank you all again for guidance there..!!! Now that I have some numbers to aim for I am hoping that is all I was missing...

The stalks I clipped & trimmed the other night, I hung them for 72 hours, total dark most of the time, no direct light, temp ranged from 71-74, RH ranged from 58-65%,, limited air movement. Tonight I did a finish trim and layered them in a bag....dayem have they shrunk up...doing the finish trim on this little bit of bud made my fiscars really furry...hahaha. So after seeing that I kinda got my hopes up that I am on the right track....maybe??

Thoughts? Opinions?

The rest of the girls are just laying around under the lights, working on their tan!! Just rompin on!! LOL

Any advise on when I should start a flush on these girls? I am still sitting at about 20-25% red...no amber trics yet, but maybe a little more than 50% cloudy. I am waiting to see a change....but I am seeing little to no change...better or worse...

I never would have guessed that on Day 84 I would still have plants living...hahahaha. But I do!!! :D

I am seeing more red hairs... Some plants have about 50% now...but some are nearer 20%. I checked trics yesterday and still not seeing amber...0%! Not even 100% cloudy...

So I am still hanging in there....

OK, we are at Day 87! Last night, before lights went out, I did find one plant that has 90-95%+ red hairs...and I did manage to see a few amber trics(No where near a lot!...only 3-4 in a view at x60) but they are mostly cloudy...more clear than amber, but still not a lot...

I am thinking I am going to start a flush this afternoon and let it go from there...these girls have to be getting close!!! I know that I am! I am going to keep an eye on them for any changes....but maybe early next week I am hoping to have them chopped and in the process of cleaning and getting ready the AF for the next go...My babies are ready for a new home...

Any more advise about drying and curing?? I am really nervous!! From what I've read and been told, conditions should be about 68-74F and 58-65%RH??? The few that I clipped last week have dried ok and it is now in a jar. Got about 15g dried from what was hanging... Been pulling some out and it is very smooth...and does a good job....but still lacks the flavor and aroma... It smells better than the last, but still has a hint of hay...HOW DO I GET THAT SKUNK????

Help???
