from what you say, all sounds well.

and you aren't lucky about LF. it's simple, it works and it's pretty much foolproof. especially if you use 0 ppm water. but your tap water is pretty nice from what i remember. I had that low of PPM's back when I was living in SC years ago and was doing some homebrewing and got curious about the water quality.

how hard is it to see the size of your root ball per plant? i was curious of how much that aeroflo pipe they fill up. I grew a tree 2 yrs ago and the rootball pretty much filled up a home depot bucket.

and as for the ppms going up slightly, keep an eye on that. especially tip burn. if it's just 10 to 20 ppm, no worries. but let's say next time you are 10 gallons low and it's goes up 100 or 150, then it is time to maybe drop it to 1200.

SME, would you agree about the ppm rise?? i've had some that don't need near as much EC during mid to late flower as they did during veg and early bloom.

Some have pretty good size roots! They have gotten bigger on the top of the pot than what I wanted...so it makes sense they are getting bigger than what I wanted below the pot too....I know the next run will keep them much smaller...But what can I do about it now??

Funny, but some plants seem to have a ball of roots an other plants seem to send runners down the chambers. Some of the balls have gotten large enough I would risk damage to pull them up, while some of the runners have made their way all the way to the down-flow tube into the res. Everything has gotten bigger than expected...but the bud seems slow to grow...

I like your plants...wanna trade? lol

i think SME mentioned it before. that aeroflow is perfect for SOG(sea of green). basically, a bunch of plants that you veg for 1 week. you go for quantity (and hopefully quality). but i remember EPCOT having lettuce growing in a aeroflo type setup. so you can imagine the lettuce was only a foot tall when done.

put up one picture of your best bud. and remind me how many days into flower are you?

mine look like somebody dumped sugar on them. they aren't the thickest yet but still 3 weeks to go.....................

LF is LF and with few exceptions it should work for everyone but plants do tend to need less at the end of their life-cycle or with less intense lighting so, as we talked about, *maybe* 8/16 is too much for LED but we'd need to do more testing to be sure. Personally, I don't even flush for more than 24 hours, if at all.

I think the aeroflo (as well as NFT and ebb&flow) are better suited for very small plants, like SOG, and I think that would be the best way to maximize results from LED too. Again, more testing needs to be done. We know that "trees" aren't the way to go for LED and most hydro setups.

I know!! Last pics your's looked real sweet! I would deal with a few yellow leaves for buds like that... :)

Lights just went out after their 22nd day on 12/12.

I was hoping to see em all get fuzzy this week, but still everything looks good and healthy....None of the conditions has been jumping....maybe I am just impatient.

Hope to hell they are done growing....other than plumping up some nice bud....

Hey Happy,

They are looking OK. I compared them to my pics after 3 weeks. Maybe it is the strain you are doing but they don't seem to be as developed as mine were at the same time frame. Look at page 3 of my journal. The top bud especially seemed more developed.

Maybe SME can eyeball yours and give opinion too.

Are you sure that the room is completely dark during lights out? And I mean totally dark. I had some things that put off a slight glow that I had to tape over: my smoke alarm red LED, my vicks humidifier glows green when dark, and my power strip had a red LED when on.

Or it could be the strain is an 75+ day variety.

Hey Rkymtnman,

They do look like they lag behind yours by a week...maybe more...dunno

I double checked and the longest flowering period of the strains I have is supposed be 70 days. Other than the earlier, brief bout with the spotted leaves, everything has been pretty steady....a lot more steady than I ever reached in tubs. I feel my numbers are pretty accurate...I check my GroChek against my hand-held at least every other day....if they don't match, they both get calibrated. Lights are all on same timer...except pwr sw on chiller glows green, but is about 2 feet directly below the plants...and the digital display on the chiller is red and also below the plants and facing the other direction. I have gotten caught in there by the timer and found out first hand it is dark in there. Mothers are in a Secret Jarden which has no light leaks. As well as I know that room, it took me a while, at a snail's pace, to feel my way to the door!!!

Did your plants grow much after you flipped to 12/12?? Mine did!! Maybe that's the diff? I will go back and check but it seems that mine have almost doubled since I went 12/12. That extra growth spurt what could be slowing down my budding??

some will "stretch" during first 2 weeks of 12/12. doubling in size is definitely possible.

mine did not. they have maybe grown 2 to 3 inches since 12/12. i haven't had to raise the LED since i installed it.

i would cover the red display and the green glow just to be safe. i'm not really sure just how little light will affect the plants. i'd be curious to see what SME has to say.

want a fathead of that last pic of mine????? lol. nice bud porn, huh?

Depending on strains the early flower "stretch" can go for 2-4 weeks and most plants will put on the most bud weight in the last 2-4 weeks...again depending on the strain. Most can double or even triple in size from flip to finish. Indicas are usually shorter; sativas taller.

You should definitely cover all lights during the dark period, even night vision cameras and green glows aren't good. I'd use tape or a thick towel.

I wonder if spacing the plants out to every other site made them want to fill up the extra space instead of focusing on bud?? Because they have grown taller & wider...during week 3... Looking back at pics I posted after 2 weeks, I can see a lot of growth, just not where i want it to be...
