I had gall stones, ouch! They removed my gall bladder and that was the end of those. ;)

Keep on keeping on...

Well, good morning folks!

Not using the SS400 yet, set up in closet due to the heat where my cabinet is located. Using CFL's and placing the plants outside for veg growth.
It is looking like the stage is set, 7 seeds, 5 Querkle and two Grand Daddy Purple.
Querkle, two in three inch pots second set of leaves but looking ok, outside during the day under Cfl's the extra hours. One that germed made it only two days in the pot, then wilted away. One germed but still sitting in the pot not broke the surface yet. One still trying to germ, doesn't look good for that lady.

GDP, one germed and is in a pot, but not broke the surface yet, the other has failed to germ yet.

So as it stands I have two with the green side up. Although I have not touched the seeds by hand since I started the process, I am going to be looking for a better germ method.

Also, When buying seeds from now on I plan on buying Fem'ed seed. I would like to find some clones but will have to drive out of this state to find them.

That is it for now, will post some pics of the plants outside this weekend.

Peace Out

Don't forget a fan gently blowing on them to help strengthen the stems... ;)

You can make your own clones by picking a mother plant and keeping it in veg for an extended period of time. That does require a constant source of light and a space to do it and I'm not sure that a cfl would be intense enough to keep mother plants in veg long.

YMMV...

From SME

"Don't forget a fan gently blowing on them to help strengthen the stems... ;)"

Sister, I have a fan on them the entire time they are in the closet, when I have them outside during the day I depend on mother nature to blow them around.

The lights come on at 5AM and then I put them outside every day at around 7AM and bring them in and under the lights till around 11PM, 18/6.

Looks like I will only have two to work with. Out of the 5 Querkle seeds, three germed and sprouted but one only made it one day and folded. One of the two Grand Daddy Purples germed but never sprouted. So hoping both of these are ladies.
Of the two growing on is a runt, the other is looking ok.

This is the Runt, same age, same strain, different phenotype? Looking sativa like.

Still under CFL's when in the house, can't move to the cabinet yet, just too hot and have not set it up to draw inside air, soon I hope. All day outside with great sunshine.
Going to feed this week at next watering (.25 strength), have only giving them RO water, and the last watering was with RO, Cal/Mag and Super Thrive.

Comments and suggestions wanted. I am trying to get some more seeds to go with this grow.

Peace Out!!

I do have a question about the thin stems, if you look at the pics, the stem looks thin while just above the first set of not true leaves it is thickening. Can I re-pot them and bury the plant to that point? Any help would be appreciated!

Why 18/6 vs 24/0? Do you not want them to grow for 6 hours? ;)

Would like that, but power consumption, on smart meter now, and everything needs its rest, LOL.

What about the thin main stem, I am concerned about that and I have had a fan on them both outside and indoors. Could it be the CFL's? Any thoughts anyone?

Did a lite fert today, .25 tsp per gallon, of GH. The little runt is beginning to catch up, will take some pics tomorrow, too busy today.

May go under the SS400 soon, but am still going to move them outside daily as long as I am getting good sunshine. Save that power where I can.

1) Plants don't rest. They either use light to grow or they stretch the stems/trunk to try to find light so they can grow.
2) Wouldn't faster/better growth and getting to flower sooner offset the cost of running your CFL's an extra 6 hours? ;)

Keep an eye on the stem; it should thicken up but I'm not sure if your dark period helps or hurts there. Typically the fans rocking them will strengthen them but each seed is different. You might need to add support. You MIGHT be able to repot them deeper but then you also run the risk of the stems rotting before rooting if the soil is too wet. You might want to give them a little more time to see what happens before you try that one.

Thanks SME, will give them time.

It's not the dollar factor as much as what state I live in, smart meters can be a problem.

Don't let me talk you into doing something that you don't want to do, it's your grow. If you pay your bill I doubt they'll care. ;)

YMMV...

Got home from another procedure, the Ladies (?) have been under the light stright for 24 hours. I will continue to move them outside into mother natures grow light (the sun) daily then back under the CFL's for the remaining hours.
With the fan on them direct at all times they are drying fairly fast, pH adjusted RO water w/ lite nutes on 8/5, pH/RO water 8/6, and today 8/7 the were completely dry so hit them with pH adjusted RO water w/ lite nutes again.

Stems beginning to thicken some, growth is going ok.
