Re: New to the GFP

Postby gr865 » Tue Sep 10, 2013 5:10 pm

SME,
Earlier in this post you recommended me going to a pH adjusted H2O of 6.8 due to the ph of the water passing through the grow medium being below 6.5. I have been using a pH adjusted H2O of 6.7 to 6.8 and the pH of the water passing through the grow medium is still coming in at around 6.4.
My question being should I increase the pH of my H2O or should I remain at the same 6.7 to 6.8?
Thanks,

GR

Good day everyone!

Well with all the problems here I am at day 49 from seed and just finished my last cut for the manifold.

Have been surprised by the amount of growth between each cut.

Q1 9-12-13 before trim.jpg
I trimmed the side with the single shoot last Friday, gave it some grow time and today trimmed the other side. This is just before the trim.

So I figure one to two weeks and I will be under 12/12. I will have my cabinet finished by then and will post pictures of the cabinet at that time.

I have ordered White Widow and Ice for my next grow.

I am hoping that this form of grow will be good for the SS400 due to the even canopy and it being opened up so the light will penetrate into the canopy. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks to all that have sent me encouraging words and ideas also.

Peace out,

GR

Thanks FW,

I have a degree in agronomy, and MJ is a weed, was trained to kill weeds, and doing a damn good job on this one, lol.

I have read that in soil you should be at 6.5, my rinse-ate has been in the low 6's and SME advised to raise the pH of my water and nutes to 6.7 to 6.8 so the final pH would fall in the 6.5 range.

Right now the pH has been at 6.4 to 6.5 so I am happy with that.

Thanks for your comments and help as I do need it.

Monday 9-16-13

Did a watering on Saturday morning, pH adjusted to 5.81 RO. Rinse-ate came out at 6.35, has to be the soil mix. Will continue with SME's suggestions on adjusting the H2O.

Q2 note the the shoots are not exactly opposite each other. I am sure all the beating up and damage that has been done has caused this. We will see how it goes.

I will be pulling them out of the closet tomorrow to feed and water.

I am very impressed with the light after using it about a week, the amount of growth is amazing. Plan on going to 12/12 in 7 to 10 days. Go in for surgery this Thursday so will need a few day to get back on my feet.

I still have some small stuff to finish on the cabinet. My fan and filter should be here soon. I will be installing the Mylar today, then cutting in the air intake, the outlet for the fan and filter, plug holes for surge protector and strip and the exhaust holes for the air to move from one side of the cabinet to the other where the fan and filter will be located.

Peace Out,

GR

I'd switch to pH adjusted tap or 50/50 tap/RO. Pure RO is hard to pH properly.

SME, my tap water is very high in ppm, 600 to 700, I have been using rain water when available. Maybe I will mix the two or only use RO when I am out of rain water.

Welcome back,

What's the ppm of the rain water? You could go 25% tap... ;)

ppm rain water is between 8 and 11. pH today was 6.81 so did not need to adjust plain rain water, only after adding the nutes, final pH for nute mix was 6.78. Final ppm of nute water was only 625 but the rinse-ate ppm was 1150, and pH was 5.89, I am thinking of raising the pH of nute water to 6.9.
When is your surgery, I have mine Thursday, getting rid of that damned ol' gall bladder.

Yeah if you're feeding...just pH after adding everything and mixing well. Let it sit a while to stabilize and re pH if needed. Then feed. If you're just watering/flushing then maybe use 10%-25% tap/RO and then pH. I'd stay at 6.8 a while longer to see...6.9 is on the high side. 5.7-5.8 is better than 5.9

I had my gall bladder removed a while back, if they don't open you up like a zipper it isn't so bad. Gall stones sure suck! Mine will probably be next month but I don't know exactly when. They're going to stick needles right into the disc next week for another test, then we'll know if surgery (or *which* surgeries) will help or not. Then it's slice and dice time for me I guess.
