Max's Grow Journal

Postby MaxVandankus » Tue Jul 03, 2012 7:11 am

Week1 started June 28th

I will post the pictures and dimensions of the plants I have under the SolarStorm now, in the next day or two.

Received the Solarstorm, and impressed with the quality of the item, nice baked paint finish, and nice to know its made in USA. The blower is not too loud, but does add to the noise coming from the barement, other than that, its a very well crafted machine.

For now, to cover the 4x4 area, I am using plants in vetg stage. Ive got 14 of them under the light right now, only because they are small and there's lots of light for everyone. As time goes on will cull out the little ones and put them back under flourescent. Ive attached the light as recommended 18-24 inches from the plants. So far so good.

I use rainwater for water, and put the water in a drip water system, which works well if I go away for a few days.

For feeding use Medi-One, all stage nutrient - this is the nutrient recommended by Canada's expert pot doc, Dr. Hornby. Its is all natural ingredients, and plants got 15% bigger since I started using it. The nutrient is easy and convenient to use, no proportional concoctions that change by the week.

I use flourescent in veg (before) and in the nursery. For the flowering stage, I use one 1000w bulb, but am looking to acquire another, since flowering takes twice as much time as under veg, I need to keep a fluid pipeline of plants, and so will need 2 1000w bulbs for floweing room.

The veg room is 18/6 under light, 12/12 for the flowering room.

Right now experimenting with natural CO2 delviery in the flowering room, hope that will make the buds explode. Not using CO2 in the room in the room with the Solar Storm so I have an even baseline to compare what plants did in veg under the flourescents.

So, Max will be back in a couple days to fill in the details on the plants themselves. I grow for a few very sick patients, and so have limited myself to pain relievers, high CBD, and just a few high THC sativas. I only use the best seed, from the best companies. I like TGA Subcool's seeds, a few from Green House, and Barney's, plus some from the CBD Crew, plus odds and ends I get free from Dinafem and others when I pickup my seeds from a dispensary.

See ya in a couple days. Max VanDankus.......

Kind of got it ass-backwards, not that computer literate....

I set the plants at 18-24 inches from the light, a couple plants which were at 18 inches away spurted up and began to show signs of burn. So I moved them to the floor. So, this is first lesson learned - when you are starting out keep the distance to the canopy from the light itself at 24 inches. If you are like me and check on your plants every 2-3 days, they do grow fast under this light. I setup an automatic water drip system, that works well, and allows me not to be tending the plants daily.

Here are the strains I'm growing: followed by height on day 1, followed by height on day 8.

GreenHouse Hawaiian Snow (pain reliever)
9 inches, 10 inches

Cannatonic Y (High CBD pain relief)
8 inches, 10.5 inches

Cannatonic C
6 inches, 7.5 inches

TGA Subcool Dairy Queen
11 inches, 12 inches

Cannatonic
11 inches, 12 inches

TGA Subcool Kaboom/Dairy Queen Hybrid (High THC)
8 inches, 10 inches

Durban Poison A (South African strain for pain relief)
6 inches, 8 inches

Cannatonic O
6.5 inches, 8 inches

Durban Poison
5.5 inches, 8 inches

GreenHouse Super Lemon Haze (High THC)
5.5 inches, 6.5 inches

Unknown Soldier 5
10 inches, 12 inches

CBD Crew Critical Mass A (High CBD pain relief)
6 inches, 8 inches

CBD Crew Critical Mass
4.5 inches, 5.5 inches

Barney's Farm Tangerine Dream (High THC)
7 inches, 8 inches

Sativa TransLove
6 inches, 7 inches

Cannatonic Z
9.5 inches, 11.5 inches

TGA Subcool Ladies Night Out (Jilly Bean, Dairy Queen Hybrid) (Pain Relief)
10 inches, 12 inches

That's 17 plants in a 4 foot by four foot area, right now all get good light, as they start growing bushy, I am going to cull out the smallest one.

Will be back in touch in another week.......

thanks for the oppty George, Max and Minnie VanDankus
