New to this

Postby elgalan » Wed Feb 29, 2012 11:16 am

As you can tell by the title I'm new to this, the only gardening I've done is let the weeds (not cannabis) grow in my back yard. I received my Solarstorm a couple weeks ago, George was great he returned my calls and answered all my questioned. I decided to go with a 4x4 grow tent, the sales person tried to persuade me to use HPS lamp because LED technology wasn't there yet. I'm going to start with clones, I would like to try seeds, there's so many venders and seeds, would like to know what kind of experience with ordering seeds and how you chose the seeds you wanted to use. Gonna put the tent together this weekend so once thats done and I get some clones I'll start posting. Looking forward to this adventure any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Attitude Seed Bank is awesome. Quick discreet shipping. Comes in a plain envelope usually. Half the time you get almost as many free seeds as you order.

I used both Attitude, and Herbies, and of the 2, I prefer herbies. They are a little cheaper, same freebies, and the customer service is outstanding. I had 18 Supersilver haze herm on me, and they sent me 200 dollars worth, of seeds of my choice.

As far as picking a breeder/strain there's millions, as you've seen. For a beginner, I would stick with Serious seeds, or a G-13 strain, feminized. They are easy to grow, and killer smoke. Lean towards Serious. Good luck! And welcome to the forum. h

I purchased seed from Amsterdam seeds bought 10 and it came with 20 free ones. So I started with the 20 free ones first, I put them in a rapid rooter on a Wednesday by Friday 14 sprouted on Tuesday I transplanted them to 2 inch plastic pots with soil and put them in a 4 x 4 grow tent, I turn the lamp on at night for 10 to 12 hours and turn it off in the morning when I go to work. It looks like 2 of the plants aren't going to make it, I've watered them once so far. I post some pictures once I figure it out.

Why only 10 to 12 hours of light, they're still seedlings right? Once they're rooted, keep that light on 18-24 hours (I prefer 24) per day.

YMMV...

Disclaimer:
I still use HID and I'm NOT an LED expert. All of my LED knowledge is from other parties or research so I can't say from first hand experience one way or another. I also run a medical grow consulting business in SoCal.

Out of the 13 plants 7 where males or herms so I got rid of them. The 6 that are left range in height from 5 to 10 inches.
At what point do I transfer them to larger pot?
When do I use the UV lights.

Sounds like you can re-pot anytime, and the UVB's get turned on about the 2-3rd week of flower. h
