Is DYI/LED an option?

Postby FireBrand » Sun Aug 05, 2012 12:02 pm

I did a short search for a DYI/LED thread but turned up zip for results.
Is this a forbidden subject?

I have been very busy researching this topic an I have learned tons in a very short time. I would like to pursue this further if it doesn't violate forum rules.

It's not a forbidden subject and people have made their own LED panels. Nobody here has, but I've seen threads on other forums. If you can get your hands on the right parts and if you have the know-how, it's not that complicated. With higher powered diodes you'll have to also worry about heat dissipation but other than that it's really not much different than making any other LED project.

Hope that helps... :D

Should this thread be moved? Or should I start a new thread? If so where would be the proper place for a DIY thread?

Am I allowed to warehouse here in this thread the various links I have that relate to this topic, some are vendors of complete lights and some are parts vendors, others are instructional articles and videos?

A link to a parts manufacturer, yes.
A link to a how-to, yes.
If they also sell lights, no.

Links will be checked, yes.

Nice collection for the DIY'er but I told you that I'd be checking links. Please try to be more careful in the future. ;)
