I'm so disappointed in the naming conventions of plants now days. Back in the 90s, everyone on the street was calling their potent plants "Chronic" even if it was just Mexican bagseed grown well. In the early-mid 2000's it was all called "Kush" (which is really a indica strain) even it it was a sativa (like the Mexican ditchweed strains) or they called it a "Haze." Those "OG Kush" plants may have been crossed with a real Kush plant at one time but those leaves and the stretch say mostly sativa. Lately, it's the same with "diesel" strains.

I know breeders and I ran my own breeding program so I know how it goes but you really can't go by the names much anymore. I'd like to get some landrace hindu or afghani kush (because I like the short bushy traits) and some landrace thai (because I like the high) if I ever start up my breeding program again but I won't call my "creations" anything with kush or thai in the name. The last thing I bred; I called Silly Putty. ;)

Disclaimer:
I still use HID and I'm NOT an LED expert. All of my LED knowledge is from other parties or research so I can't say from first hand experience one way or another. I also run a medical grow consulting business in SoCal.

Put a "i" in front of it like Apple does.

Exactly! I normally air cure most of my harvest because the dispensaries care about bag appeal but I think I might switch to water curing the whole thing and call the new strain iFugly. Once they sample iFugly, they won't care what it looks like. ;)

Maybe not...

Do you trim your buds before you put them in water? I imagine that is not necessary as water curing flushes everything out.

I do a rough trim before and a final trim after but I know people that do no trimming until after they come out of the water. I figure the less plant matter in the water the less that needs to be flushed. Try it both ways, see what you like. ;)

The only way to stop a live plant from growing is to kill it or wait for it to die on it's own, after flowering, but you could bend and tie it down a little so it's not as tall as it wants to be. I wouldn't suggest cutting it at this point. Remember these plants will grow 2-3 times taller than when it went into flower by time it finishes, assuming there's enough light and the stretch isn't due to searching for light. Sometimes it's genetics sometimes it's not enough light....sometimes it's both. Sativa and sativa dominate plants will stretch more than indica and indica dominate strains. There are nutrient supplements that claim to reduce the flowering stretch but I'm not sure that I'd believe that.

For me, I'd either choose different genetics next time or flower earlier. Since you flowered those pretty small, you're probably looking at finding genetics that are better suited to growing indoors or increasing the amount of w/sqft to try to combat the stretch. If I remember correctly, you have a decent w/sqft ratio but all of my growing experience is either outdoors (decades ago) or indoors with HID so perhaps the LED isn't giving the plant what it wants, spectrum wise. There are other methods that some growers suggest to reduce the flowering stretch but I like to keep it simple so I won't go into that here. I'd definitely be concerned at the space between internodes, it looks like you're growing stems, which is not what you want. Great for hemp fiber not so good for meds. ;)

YMMV...

You might want to look into the FIM pruning technique. Do it when they have 4 internodes below the FIM prune and the plant usually stays below 24". Helpful when growing in cramped areas.

Threw these things into flowering August 9th. So going on 61/2 weeks of flowering. About 2 more weeks and I will call it a day for these ladies. There getting visibly fatter everyday now. This past Friday was the last time I nuted. Going to be starting the flush this coming week. So far shes really not smelly at all unless your up close to it and touch the leaves. She has a lemon/piney smell.

I will be watering curing about half the harvest and other half air curing. Its sick how much frost shes getting. Its crystals stacked on top of crystals in some places. On the top colas the stem is sticky from it.

Thanks. Started the flush this evening. Ladies are going down no matter what in 2 weeks. That bring them into the 9th week of flowering.
