Update: all five plants of the main plants now have multiple pods! Will try to get good photographs of them this weekend.

All plants are making pods like crazy. I can't believe they're only a little more than 2 months from seed! Even my tiny chili plant in a 1 liter pot is fruiting!

All in all, I counted 75 pods and stopped because I got bored :mrgreen:

One of my "facing heaven" chili apparently isn't legitimate - look in the last photo - the pods are fat and facing straight down. It looks more like a jalapeno... If it is, I'd be disappointed, the plant is doing so well, but I don't want to waste any precious real estate on chilis I can easily get at the market.

The massive plant in photo #2 is my favorite. The pods appear to be authentic.

Everything is going smoothly and I didn't have anything to report. Just lots of healthy leaves and pods. I hadn't checked them since Sunday, then I went to water them and when I unzipped the tent I immediately spotted one bright red chili. It's my first to ripen, and it really sticks out in the sea of green! I guess soon there will be many, many more like it.

The giant plant has an ungodly number of flowers that are fertilizing (see second to last photo)! I need to get a dehydrator stat because I won't even be close to being able to eat or gift this many pods.

Time to wrap this up. Overall, I'm pleased. I get about this many chilis every two weeks. I don't think my light source is limiting me.

Thanks for completing your journal. Are you going to grow more peppers, try something else, add more lights or maybe try hydroponics?

Thanks for your interest, SME. I'm definitely going to grow more peppers. I didn't mention this in the last post, but the flavor of these is just the same as conventionally grown facing heaven chilis, which is to say, incredibly delicious. I've already made chili oil and pickled chilis with them, in addition to their main duty as being used fresh in cooking.

I'm not sure if I'll replace the plants I have, but I definitely want to replace my tomato plant (growing these indoors makes no sense!) with new rare herbs to expand my cooking options.

Regarding hydro, etc, my attitude for now is, if it isn't broken, I won't fix it. Maybe some day I'll get bored and want another hobby and try hydro.

Chilis are still doing fantastically. The tent is overgrowing... My harvests keep getting larger every two weeks. These taste so good! The photos are from when i took the plants out of the tent to harvest.

By the way, though, if the plant gets too tall, the growth towards the bottom middle of the plant isn't super healthy - I don't think the solar storm can penetrate layers of foliage. My tallest plant is 3 feet tall and is the second photo below. I am going to really pare back its height soon.

Overall, though, the SS puts out all the light I'd want, just got to remember to keep plants short. When you do the results are amazing - check out how dense the pods are on the second to last photo! That one plant has about 70 large pods.
