btw I went ahead and made that DIY tent. I had the SS400w sitting around in a box so I figured I'd put it to good use as a second veg tent/quarantine tent. Not the prettiest thing I've ever made but I'm satisfied that it will serve its purpose. :D

I applied a little ABS cement to some parts of the top so it will hold the weight of the light. The rest pops apart for transport.

added 2 gal. of fresh RO water today, adjusted pH from 6.3 to 5.8 (hadn't touched pH in almost two weeks, it was very stable). I added more Voodoo Juice (myco) + CarboLoad to feed them, did not add any nutes. PPM at about 800 (EC 1.6).

I've been supercropping them like mad with good results. Yesterday I fimmed many branches as well.

I've placed the screen 1 foot above the reservoir. I have three feet of space above the screen for the plants to grow, so if my plants were really to triple in size during the flower stretch (unlikely, but it's not impossible since kali mist is mostly sativa) I will have the vertical room to handle it.

I should receive the new bigger chiller this week. When I do I'll add the second SS400.

Good information to know.

Here's another question: silica additives. Lots of anecdotal evidence it helps, can't find much in the literature.

I don't like the idea of smoking that but people say it works. I prefer to just keep a fan blowing on the plants to strengthen them.

I gave them an air bath yesterday (pumped the res empty into another temporary res, waited 20 minutes, then pumped the water back in.

There's definitely been a spurt of growth, but couldn't say it's in response of the bath. I think I'll try giving the roots an O2 bath again today and see what happens.

In a good *DWC you shouldn't need to do that. What is your water level compared to the bottom of the netpots?

220v is amazing for the reasons you mentioned but here 220v in a house is usually wired to the kitchen only (for the stove) so if you're converting an existing space you need to do a few modifications.

There is no *need* to give them an air bath, but I did notice a growth spur after giving it to them. My guess is an o2 bath leads to some oxidization at the root level which must stress the plant out. From the aeroponic journals I've read (and the books), growth seems to be the fastest among all growing methods.

Might have been a fluke, I'll try again and see what happens.

Kitchens, garages, laundry rooms, etc. Depends on the house but, regardless, if you only have so much room on your service panel you can only add so many amps. When you go big, didn't you say that you're moving to a more appropriate space? If not you'll have to hire an electrician if you can't do it yourself. 1000w light uses a bit under 10 amps at 110 so it doesn't take many to overload most breakers/service panels. That's why you'll want 220, even if that means an upgrade... ;)

The issue with upgrading is the wiring, isn't it? Here, Hydro-QC brings both 220v and 110v to your service panel and then the electrician handles the connections. Can you rewire the 110v breakers on the 220v line without changing the wire in the walls? I know amperage is relative to watt and voltage, but don't know enough about electricity to know what kind of work would be needed.

Obviously if it's just a matter of rewiring the panel then it's not even a problem. A 20 amps breaker on 220v is a lot of juice.

Correct, you also have to factor in wire sizes which is why you probably want to hire an electrician...unless you are one. ;)

My CAP 8-light controller suggests a 50A 220v circuit (which doesn't include the rest of the house, fans, pumps, other controllers, timers, etc) so you can see why 220 is important if you want to go big. Again, I don't know about there but here the biggest service panels that I see in Home Depot is 125A. You can get 3 phase power installed in commercial buildings which is 330v but I've never seen a house, here, with 3 phase. A person (again here) can get two meters and two service panels installed to double up but that might also draw unwanted attention. :D
