Solar Flare question?

Postby lesliemorris85 » Thu Feb 07, 2013 7:56 pm

How loud is the Solarflare 200? I'm planning to buy one for my 36x20 tent…

Since it only has 1 fan, it shouldn't be much louder than a PC but I don't see a specification on noise in their PDF so I'm not sure.

I am Canadian and due to weather and availability of light amounts, have had to grow many different methods to find my nice formula. LED is very good, HID is pretty good, and HPS.......started a fire I had to quickly explain to the local volunteer fire dept.

From experience, trust experience, not much I can say than that, but if you want facts and numbers......I am open to sharing my experience.

Love and Happiness to all you lovers and fighters.

HPS is a HID light and if you started a fire you did something horribly wrong...

Hi Sis, by HID, I mean metal halide, which gives me more blue wavelengths and I get thicker veg growth, which in turn give me denser bud. It's the proverbial: HPS can be HID, but HID is not HPS, but all good karma.

The fire was an accident, silly me, I left the light on too close to a hanging cloth I use for wiping my hands off from residue. I didn't think it was so hot at that distance. I only wrote that to let members know that the heat is intense and can lead to burn..........and they don't want that.

It doesn't matter what people use, as long as they don't hurt themselves. But if it can save you money, harm, and mother nature, then I will protect my Earth Mother by choice.

Love to all you lovers and fighters....... ;)

MH is a HID but it's not the only one, which is why I pointed that out. MH is good for veg but not so good for flower, MV isn't even used anymore. HPS is the king because it can be used full cycle and it has better penetration power. Your ranking order is subjective but we've had that debate on the forums before so I doubt I need to go over the details again. ;)

Right, you started the fire, not the HPS. I wouldn't suggest leaving combustible materials too close to any high powered light.

You're right, it doesn't matter which light he picked, I try to help everybody that I can here. I've debated and broken down the cost/benefit analysis on the forums before too. There are a lot of myths floating around and as people learn more they can make the best decisions for themselves. :D

I don't own one but I've seen them running, in person. While not silent, by any means, I wouldn't call it loud either. I guess it's somewhat subjective. Read some of the journals for the flare and see what other people have to say. The much larger SolarStorm 800w is pretty loud but it has to deal with more heat so that's to be expected.
