Is LED bulbs really thirty thousand hours used? How to take to determine the life of the LED? :?: :?: :?:

It varies. I assume you mean the LED diodes used in grow lights and even there it can be different. The cheaper, low quality diodes don't last as long as the, better, high quality diodes. Some diodes will last 50,000-80,000 hours MTBF but even LED diodes lose intensity over the life of the light. That doesn't mean that every diode will last that long, it's just an average or sometimes it's even an estimate.

Disclaimer:
I still use HID and I'm NOT an LED expert. All of my LED knowledge is from other parties or research so I can't say from first hand experience one way or another. I also run a medical grow consulting business in SoCal.

OK, Thanks for your answer. I think it can be tested out in some way, it seems my thought is wrong.

Hi mate,
Heres my input;

Its all about two things;
1: Quality of LED and Circuit Board (as the guy explained earlier)
But then theres
2: The way the LED's are powered. And thats down to the quality of the power driver. or supply to the LED's
IF too much electricity is fed to them, they will be overlocked and wont last the full 50,000 hours
If too less they will last but the intensity of the light will be poor. (cough cough 1W Leds first generation lights lol)
so it the 'sweet spot' that you need when powering these lights.
Pulse Modulation Technology for LED's in a nutshell.
oh and
3: Overheating issues, poor heatsinks, fans, etc,,,,, even down to the thermal paste in between the LED's and heatsink.
Oh and im a IT / Electrical Engineer btw if anyones wondering, just love a grow and smoke like everybody else! :mrgreen:
