Day 51

We're moving into the 8th week of vegging. I think we're entering outrageous territory soon.

I took out the plants of the tent for a res change and frankly, until I had taken this picture, I had not realized how big they had gotten. You lose perspective when you watch as they grow every day.

I changed the res because some leaves were showing deficiencies and I don't know why (PPM, pH, water temp, rH, ambient temp are all normal)

Back in the tent:

All new growth looks fine, the problem appeared to be in the lower leaves only. Since I wasn't sure I just switched the entire res and added fresh calmg + fresh nutes.

99% of the leaves are fine. Could this be damage in the past that is now fixed but the damages were permanent?

Just to help with troubleshooting, these values are maintained 24/7:

Res temp: 68F
pH: 5.8
PPM: 800-900ppm
rH: 60%
Ambient temp: 85F
CO2: 1350ppm

FYI this has been there for 2 weeks or so, I just didn't notice in full details until I got the plants out of the tent and under white daylight.

Looks like a magnesium def to me; too much calcium can lock out magnesium and potassium. Maybe some K def too, let's see how they like the flush and refill. Have you tried pH 5.6 yet?

Refresh everyone with your water/nute/supplement details again? Water source, ppm/pH, how much of what is added and in what order? How many gallons to fill your res? How much water are you adding back per day? how old was that last batch? What has been your ppm/ec target during veg so far?

Water source: I make my own 0ppm RO water
ppm: I keep it between 800-900ppm (1.8-1.9EC)
pH: 5.8-6.1

how much of what is added and in what order?: 5ml/gal of CalMg was added first, then 2ml/gal of 2 part veg nutes, then additives, then ph up or ph down.

How many gallons to fill your res? 20 gallon in total

How much water are you adding back per day? So far? 1 gallon every 4-5 days.

how old was that last batch? Less than two weeks old. Eleven days.

What has been your ppm/ec target during veg so far? It's been in the 800-900ppm range for weeks based on other KM journals I read. For five weeks at least.

Might it be possible the damage occurred when pH spiked to ph 8.3 for 12 hours when I was out of ph +/- about two weeks ago?

How much, each, of what 2 part and which additives in what amounts? ;)

It's possible that the spike started something but as pH goes up plants can take in more magnesium but less calcium. Then, when calcium builds up it can lock out magnesium. Only 12 hours though so I doubt it. Try dropping the pH to 5.6 and see if they get happy or sad.

5ml/gal GH CalMag+
2ml/gal AN Sensigrow A
2ml/gal AN Sensigrow B
2ml/gal AN Voodoo Juice (doesn't affect PPM, it's fungi)
2ml/gal AN B52

I'd have to dig up the specs on each but after we see how they like the nute refresh and pH drop we'll see if any other changes might be needed... ;)

My screen is about 50% filled right now. I think I'm gonna flip to 12/12, I really don't have any idea how much she will stretch and it might be a problem if I let them get bigger. In all of the KM journals I read they all doubled at the very least.

Well I counted, and exactly 53% of the squares have a head coming out of it, I am flipping to 12/12 tomorrow.

The first six weeks the plants were at 85F 24/7, the past two weeks at 87F, and I'll be maintaining 90F day temps in two weeks from now (75F at night).

Can I wait a week into flower before changing my res to bloom nutes???

Both SS400W are running in the tent now, and lights are shutting down for the first time at 10:00PM tonight.

Seems like just yesterday that the girls were so tiny... ;)

Did you get your veg light figured out yet?
