Just thought I'd post these pretty ultra-close ups that I did using my phone and magnifier..I use double this magnification when inspecting trichs.

The yellowish ones are a lower bud from the headband (aka sour og). The blueish tinted one is from a main blue dream stem. It looks good now after curing and tastes like heaven :ugeek:

I thought a little couldn't hurt

Here's a pic of my homemade cloner. A pretty crude piece of equipment but it works for me. I tried rooting in soil with a much lower take rate, but it could just be I'm doing something wrong. Works almost every time with this thing though. Instead of complicated spray nozzles I just use 1 bendable air stone with aquarium pump to distribute bubbles evenly around the surface, which is an inch or two below the top. The bursting bubbles keep the stems moist, some of which are secured in foam inserts, the rest I just got lazy and drilled holes  . filtered water, no nutes or rooting gel either. After a couple weeks two or three white roots can be seen hanging from each stem and then I put it in soil. About 65 degrees in there.

The other pic is a blue dream clone I have vegging under 250w Hps. Topped and tied down. It's in a 1'4"x1'4"x4' tent. I'm hoping for 2.5 oz, maybe I'm blue dreaming...

~~Chemdog harvest~~

It was ready so i cut her down. many trichomes were amber/cloudy white. One surprise was the top buds exhibiting such gorgeous lavender and reddish-purple hues, which just came in the last few days. I didn't break into an allergic reaction at all while trimming which is unusual, trimming sour og was torturous but this was a pleasure. Wonderful, deep foresty scent with a juniper note. Finger hash reflecting the same elements in taste , and a super menthol-like feeling in the lungs, then a bone tingling buzz. Such a relaxing, pleasurable trimming session. I am stoked and hope the buds compare with the finger hash. Really euphoric/trippy then couch lock high with mind effects similar to shrooms for about 5 hours after a few hits. I still have sticky, aromatic residue under my fingers that is still making me high I think.

It seems like the average quality of the product improved with this run, the buds were just the right distance from the light for the most part, and it made a positive difference! I hung everything in the tent and set humidity to 40 percent for drying. Looks like a lot for just one plant, I'm estimating 8+ oz. :D

Very Nice Looking Buds Mr Dirt,

Thanks for the pictorial on the cloner. I was wondering, say I put a hold in the side of a one liter bottle for the air hose, ad put the clone in the top? I could fit a foam insert around the clone? And with the bottle shaped the way it is, the mist from the air bubbles would naturally rise to the clone, um maybe?

Just a thought. But I am hooking up a plastic coffee container right now to try to mimi what you did, but on a smaller scaler? I think I will try both the coffee container, and the liter bottle.

My two cents,

Eek

Hey Eek,

Thanks for elaborating on your transplant technique, I will definitely give it a try perhaps with some auto's that came as freebies with my beans. I'm looking forward to seeing what autos are like as I've never grown them before.

I think you could get away with using the plastic bottle, however another thing you need to be sure to do is keep the rooting area relatively dark, so maybe wrap duct tape around the bottle and possibly the coffee canister too if there's substantial light bleeding through, I have to keep the light high enough (about 10 in.) otherwise too much can go through the lid on mine. The coffee can also may be better because you can fit more clones up top.

I added another couple pics to show the details. I use a 2-ft airstone but you can use the little ones too just make sure that if you put your finger where the stem is you can feel a little spritz. The way stems are held in place, they are about an inch above the water line. They are just beginning to show some short white root buds, I expect this batch with be ready for soil in a few days :ugeek:

Chemdog Results ~~

I weighed the dried produce up today and she totaled 9.1 oz!! I must say I am happy with all this being from 1 tree, and also with the overall quality. I believe the SF200w bloom booster worked out better than the 180wUFO I had before as well, producing denser, faster maturing buds. Both lights have roughly the same draw.

My g/ watt numbers aren't quite as good this round but i think more plants will fix that, there was a little unused light space 8-) .

Picture is of a newly rooted clone that will be one of 3-4 plants for my next round (I thought that would be a good number for yield). There will be a little down time when they veg but that's ok with me.

I'm confused, was this a SF200w grow or a SS400w grow?

It's actually a 400w SS + 200w SF. For My first run I was using a 180w UFO with the SS.
The UFO is now in the 2*2 mother tent and I only turned on half of the panel because there's just 2 moms in there right now.

I feel that given what I've seen so far 3 plants would be more ideal and I expect my best yields yet using clones. I was however encouraged to get as much as I did from the chemdog plant vegged from seed nearly 2 months. The next round may be a combination of clones and seeds. I'll continue to update my journal as things get moving, but like I say there will be a little downtime as the clones get established. The cuttings took longer to root because the moms were unhealthy at the time, which I assume was ok cuz they are greening up now

I saw earlier in this thread a post about weird behavior that was non-bug related. LED growers should be aware of VPD - Vapor Pressure Deficit - VPD and Nutrient Deficiency

You should find what you need if you google the above. Good luck with your next round, looks very close to what I plan on doing
