I'm about to invest in a led light which would better solarflare 200w or pro grow 260x

The PG has more watts but only 3w diodes compared to the SF using 5w diodes so it kind of depends on what and how you plan on growing and personal choices.

The PG doesn't list the spectra used so you really don't know what you're getting there. I don't like the dishonest claim of zero heat from PG; that's a very common myth. Also, the PG seems to be a chinese light made for an online hydro store (no manufacturer website) and the SF is made in America.

Well...that's 5 square feet which is pushing it for the SF200w but if you went with the weaker 3w PG you'd *have* to SOG (or maybe SCROG) since you only have 5 foot headroom. You could also go with an air-cooled 250w HPS but that's one of those personal choices and either way, with LED or HID, you'll have to deal with the heat in such a small tent.

YMMV...

So I should go with the ss400 then? Then what's the max on plants that I can grow?

The SS400w is a better flowering light due to the added UVB but you don't pick the number of plants based on the size of the light. You pick the number of plants based on growing style, space and genetic choices. In 5 sqft you could grow between 1 and 20 plants depending on other choices. Either way you still only have 5 feet headroom so your choices are limited. ;)

In soil, you still have to choose the genetics and growing style. I'd suggest growing Indica genetics since they don't stretch as much as Sativas. As for style, you could go with SCROG with just a couple of plants, or low to high density SOG with more plants. These choices all have pros and cons.

SOG is best done from clone rather than seed but the pot sizes depend on density and style. Bigger pots for SCROG, smaller pots for SOG and even smaller pots for a high density SOG. HD SOG will have 4 plants per sqft, a low density SOG will have 1 plant/sqft and a SCROG will only need 1 or 2 plants total for 5 sqft but it takes longer to veg and fill up the screen.
