RKYMTNMAN'S FULL GROW WITH SS 400

Postby rkymtnman » Sat Jul 20, 2013 3:41 pm

High again everybody,

Just picked up 5 White Widow clones this morning and they are already in the DWC.

Stats so far:

EC 0.2 with LF
pH 5.83
temp and humidity are still changing in grow room
7.5mL each of z7 rez additive (2 part solution)
SS400 about 24 inches above clones and in VEG mode

These clones were in 2x2 rockwool cubes which I haven't done in awhile. I like pure hydroton but the cubes are OK as long as you don't have them constantly wet.
Have my water level maybe a 1/2 inch above bottom of netpots.

Have some pics tomorrow.

Nice, #2 in progress already... :D

So, how many ml/g did you use to get to that .2 EC? Are the clones fully rooted?

I still use HID and I'm NOT an LED expert. All of my LED knowledge is from other parties or research so I can't say from first hand experience one way or another. I also run a medical grow consulting business in SoCal.

Yeah, SME, I need to redeem myself on this grow! And I want to run SS in veg and bloom this time too.

Already off to a rough start: 930 pm a huge storm comes in, we get 3 inches of pea sized hail and then the power goes out. Trying to get a generator from the garage to the house in 3 inches of hail is not fun. But of the 4 hrs the power was out, the genset ran for almost all of it.

The clones look nice and perky this morning so hopefully none the worse for it.....

My rez at the net pot level holds 15 gal and I used 10/20 of M&B to get EC of 0.2 Try that for a few days until the roots start poking out of the pots. The clones were fairly rooted: not as big or well rooted as my last batch but I wanted 5 of the same strain and this strain was all they had. And I've smoked alot of WW in Amsterdam and from what I remember, it was killer. Jack Herer was another strain that I loved.

Week 1 of VEG complete.

Reservoir change. Forgot to pick up more RO water so decided to use Ionic Grow instead of LF. 15 gallons tap water with 50mL of Grow and 7.5mL each of z7 res additive. Net EC of 0.35

First roots out of netpot on Day 5. Still have 1 plant that is being stubborn. All 4 others looking good.

I'll have some pix mid week.

Roots finally out on clone #5.

Dropped water to 1 inch below net pot. Make'em work for their supper.

Will be picking up FNBloom this weekend. Probably will flip at 2 weeks which would be this Saturday.

Glad to hear that they all made it Rkymtnman. How big are they at this point? Have you noticed any difference vegging with your SS400?? How are you liking that Ph meter?

I've cut my timers down to 10 hours of light. Shit sux with my lights going out so early... I'm hoping it will be worth it and improve yield...but don't have any basis for comparison...lol

Looks like my second round is on it's way! First cloner is shooting out roots all over the place...I think I counted only 5 clips that hadn't shown nice white. In the second one I only have one showing a sprout, but they were clipped 3 days after the first batch. So if timing holds true I should be seeing a lot little white sprouts in the next day or two... I did have to pull the pumps and sprayers out of both tonight cuz they built up so much crud!!

Looks like we are both on our way! Good luck to ya Bud!!! I'll be watching...

Hey GR,
I can't speak for Happy, but I would never say I have it down. Hydro is a fickle mistress. I only hope this grow has less power failures and equipment issues. If it was easy, I'd get bored.........

Happy,
one clone looks alot different than the other 4. Maybe it was labeled wrong when I got it. And it was the first to show roots and now has the most roots by far. Oh well. My next pix will show it better but it was the plant in the bottom right in the first picture. They aren't too tall at this point. Biggest is maybe 6 inches. Might go longer than 2 weeks of veg depending on how they do in the next few days.

I do like the pH meter. It does come in handy especially when doing a rez change to get it set at 5.8 After that, I do use the drops first and see if I would change the pH based on the drops and then double check with the meter. If the drops are yellow, the pH is somewhere in the 5.6 to 6.2 range. But for 60 bucks, well worth it!!

What do you put on your cuttings? I've heard Olivia's gel has the best success rate for popping out roots.

Hey Rky,
I agree with ya man...I like a good, rewarding challenge!! Plus, it keeps me busy...there is no time for boredom unless I make time for it.. :?

I will go back & look at the pic... I guess they make mistakes like everyone else... But you know that if they are selling that strain in a dispensary it isn't going to be dirt weed no matter what it is. But it will be interesting as your grow progresses, to watch. How big you going to let them get before flipping? You have more c-c distance than I do(??), so I imagine you could go a little larger than I am going to go next time. BTW, the clones I have ARE from the largest, fastest growing strain I have!! To look at the mothers, you would never know that I took that many clips a week and a half ago!!! They are still too big!! So mine are gonna flip fast!

My clones, btw, are right on target! Today, all except 2 in the first are showing white...and as predicted, 4-5 in the second are showing the first white today!!! Only bitch is that they are gonna be bigger than what I wanted for this next round...
To answer your question...I use Clonex... When I finish prepping a cutting I dip about 1" in the Clonex gel and put it in the foam collar & into the cloner. Then I use Clonex nutes when I mix my water for the cloner. I know there are cheaper, better, worse, and all in between...this was recommended by a friend so I tried it....all I can say is this works for me! It took me a few failed attempts, but now I get 100% or pretty damn close...every time...but it's still nerve-racking until you see those white shoots! And that takes about 10 days the way I do it...and when they dangle 2-3" roots in the cloner they go into net pots.

Hey, if you veg and I root & flip we might get on the same calendar with our grows...lol

Take care,

Happy!
