These are my plants before lights are on. As you can see, they are very healthy indeed. I am not certain why the system is turning my picture sideways...

SisterMaryElephant wrote:Less light too. Their claim that the 440w light will replace a 1000w HPS is BS, imho, but you'll find out soon enough since you used to run 1000w HID lights. What kind of yield (g/w) were you getting with your 2kw HPS setup? ;)

I don't know what's going on with them, they used to have such a good cust support reputation even one of our new members said he got good support so maybe it was the trade show that they went to but I don't work there so I can't say.

What are "55s?"

I thought the CLW lights had 3 year warranties?

CLW lights are sold in retail hydro stores too but maybe not the one close to you. *shrug* The lush lights appear to be chinese made but serviced here so YMMV.

I'll take the 5w diodes over weaker 3w diodes any day... ;)

So as with all LEDs we know that the yeild will always be slightly less. This is true with CLW LLED or any other brand I researched. I am OK with that. The LLEDs are made in Colorado. The wattage on LEDS is superficial, it is the spectrum that most concerns me. You can run a 1000w MH light during flowering and it does little good even though it is a 1000w or you could run a 4oo HS and the results would be a thousand fold better because of the spectrum used.

The yield I got from my last setup was around 3oz per plant. I am currently growing the same strain (clones) as the HID lights so I will have a very good comparison to go off.

I really am not on this board to debate which lights are better or worse however, I simply want to be an impartial grower allowing people to see LED lights (not really brands) so that they can judge for themselves if they want to spend that kind of money to make a switch. I have not seen a full grow cycle anywhere on the net in pictures from LED lights, just Youtube crap that really does not get into specifics.

Yes, those look very healthy!

The reason I brought up less yield is because the lush lights claim they'll yield more than 1000w HPS (which often yield over 1g/w) and I dont buy that (from a 440w LED) either based on all of the LED journals we have here. It's true that spectra is important and while I wouldn't use a MH full cycle many growers use HPS full cycle and some even supplement HPS with MH. I didn't see the Colorado info on their site, it just said: "Our products are engineered in the USA and customer service is based in the USA." I don't think they're MADE here.

3oz/plant but how many plants? What strain(s) do you normally run? We really don't know much about your grow other than the lights, size of the room, you use a portable AC unit and I see soil. ;)

You're right this is a journal to detail how your grow turns out but the members here use the various journals to determine which lights are best so I tend to ask a lot of questions and post important info and opinions regarding various lights. Have you seen all of the journals we have here and in the CLW section?

As I said, I'm looking forward to watching this one progress...

Disclaimer:
I still use HID and I'm NOT an LED expert. All of my LED knowledge is from other parties or research so I can't say from first hand experience one way or another. I also run a medical grow consulting business in SoCal.

I did read the journals but they were not as informative as I had hoped. They were enough to get me to try to contact CLW but like I stated, I didnt get a cal back for a few days so that was a big hit on their company. I have nothing against the lights because I have not grown with them.

I am growing Bubblicious, Pure Power Plant and of course, BDS. These are the 3 I have been growing for years, for various reasons.

I take what the companies state with a grain of salt because "We are the best" is on every site. I am hard pressed to believe any of what I have read which is why I am doing my own thing. :)

Some of the journals are more detailed than others, maybe yours will be an example. ;)

How many plants do you run at a time? How tall do you veg them before flipping? Details, man, details! Everyone has different growing styles...

Unfortunately, some people believe whatever they read so "the best" might be subjective but "the most powerful grow lights on the market" is a lie. There are a number of common LED myths that people think are true for one reason or another, I'm glad that you're checking based results rather than hype.

Currently for this test I am doing 12 plants. I let them veg until they are between 18 and 24" before flowering. I use organic soil and they grow in 1 gallon bags for veg and 3 gallon for flowering. they are being grown in a 4 x 6 area (approximate). I water about once every 3-4 days (with HID almost every day). I have been able to cut back on the nutrients as well as the water. Also, my bill electric bill has dropped almost $150 a month.

Were you flowering 12 plants with your old 2kw HID setup?

Shorter plants seem to do better under LED but time will tell.

Saving 150/mo is nice as long as the yield/quality doesn't suffer due to less light. They look healthy! :D
