The most dangerous part of skydiving is driving to the place to jump but I'm sure glad I did it...a few hundred times. If my back ever got completely better again I might consider it again. I've been skydiving so I have little desire to bungee; they're not in the same league. ;)

Sounds like your friend might have misjudged a "low hook-turn" and those can be dangerous. :(

Rky,

Your girls look amazing man!! Looking like you are having a great grow..esp with just 4?? Beautiful buds!!

Hope you get em to the finish without issue...

I'm with ya on the sky diving and bungee jumping!! Jumping out of a plane that isn't crashing??? Trusting a rubber band to keep me from spattering after a 200 foot free fall?? Naw....I'll watch thank you.....

Your now running the ss400 with the 400hps ? I'm wanting to get a veg room going so I can have a perpetual harvest I just have not been able to free up enough funds to....fund the veg room but I will eventually after I finish school. Are you having to vent more because of the hps? I'm thinking the ss400 is perfect for summer time use but I may need a small heater for using it during the winter or maybe I can add a 400 hps for some additional heat.

hey purp,
yeah, i added the 400 hps after 2 or 3 weeks of 12/12. they got too tall and i already had the light so why not. plus it gets me to about 70 watts/sqft which is way better than just the SS400 by itself.

Thanks Harley. They are at day 54 now. After doing a bunch of searching/googling, I decided to go with the breeder of White Widows advice and put them in total darkness for 10 days. They seemed like they kinda stalled in bud growth (which I read was normal in this strain) and didn't have the crystals that WW should have based on lots of pix I saw. I'll post my results after 5 days of darkness and see if I made a mistake or the right call.

I doubt that you'll need 5 days to see the results. I just don't see any benefit coming from it; they need light and food to grow and flushing the nutrients and/or taking away the light for extended periods doesn't make any sense to me. I hope I'm wrong. ;)

Be sure to keep an eye out for hermaphrodites since the light stress might cause them to seed up.

Personally, I'd want to use the last 10 days to pack on major flower weight but I'm always up for watching people experiment. YMMV...

I'm hoping my mileage may vary from what you and 2 others that do WW on this site.

Here's one piece of info to back me up. From Dinafem which is where these clones came from:

White Widow is an indica-sativa hybrid with clear indica predominance, especially in the growing stage.

Not very vigorous, it has many side branches making it easy to control indoors.

The leaves are small, dark and shiny, whilst remaining quite wide.

The smell of the stems rubbed between your fingers is deep, sweet & sour and very strong; it is important to use carbon filters indoors.

Production may be lower than for other strains but this is compensated by its resin coated flowers.

Very good strength and a mixed physical and mental medicinal effect, which is truly pleasurable.

It is advisable to leave them in complete darkness for the last 5 days, to increase resin production as much as possible.

(Emphasis added by SME)
Lower production *could* be from no light (photosynthesis) for the last 5-10 days...or genetics. ;)

That sounds like junk science to me, "resin" (trichome) production is tied to UVB, insect damage and, of course, genetics AFAIK. I'm not a botanist so maybe I'm wrong but I don't think dark triggers that protection mechanism. It might make them stretch a lot, looking for light, for a few days but without light to provide energy they'll be looking pretty bad bad in a few days too. They could go hermie trying to seed themselves before they die too. *shrug*

I'd drop the temps the last week or two, keep the light on and use the UVB until you harvest. If you could compare one in the dark vs one in the light I think you'd see what I'd expect. ;)

We'll see... :D

Normally I'd take your advice but I'm going to be the canary in the mine for this one.

It is only for this strain and it's what the breeder recommends.

They are almost done anyway: mostly cloudy trichs before I turned the lights off last nite.

When I top off res, I'll try to give them a good once over under a green LED bulb to see what's going on.

Results, good or bad, to come.
