FWB Solar Storm 400 Week 1 Journal

Postby FredWhiteandBlue » Wed Aug 21, 2013 11:36 pm

Received my Sloar Storm 400 last Wed, and what a beaut! Wasn't too sure about light's intensity, until I temporarily blinded one of my neighbors. I told him it was it was a photography light, and to stop peeping over the fence.
I just finished building a 5X5X8 grow closet in my garage, and I'm waiting for my clones to shoot out some more roots before they hop in their 5 gal DWC buckets. I'm planning on SCROGging three plants; I haven't decided which strains as of now.

FWB Solar Storm 400 Week 2 Journal

Postby FredWhiteandBlue » Wed Sep 25, 2013 11:13 pm

Aug 28 and clones are here: Kandy Kush and Headband. They'll be in quarantine for a week; that should give them time to
root more. zis-boom-bah
They're now rooted in Froggy Soil, but when they get more rooted, I'll transplant them to 6in rock wool cubes. For now the girls are thriving 8 inches under 200 watts of CFLs. Soil is still very moist so no extra H2O.

Any more post-construction pictures of your setup?

FWB Solar Storm 400 Week 3 Journal

Postby FredWhiteandBlue » Tue Oct 15, 2013 10:31 pm

Sept 4, 2013
Finally finished 5' X 5' grow room; I sectioned off a 3' X 3' area for the three bucket system.
Transplanted girls from froggy soil to 5 gal DWC buckets; 1 bucket for each girl, and 1 for control
bucket. It contains small pump to circulate nutes to other buckets, an air stone, and a temporary pump for top feeding
plants until sufficient root growth. Their first nutes are just Cal-Mag (5ml/gal) and 1 drop/gal of Superthrive.
I placed SS400 24 inches from tops of girls, and I have 2 fans directed towards them.

Week 4 under SS400 light. Their roots haven't breached rockwool cube yet. The slow growth, I attribute to stress from the transplant and new light source. I'm sticking with 22in. from ss400 until the girls are more rooted. They're receiving bottle recommendations of General Hydroponics' FLORA-GRO and FLORA-MICRO, as well as Cal-mag and SuperThrive every seven days.
RO water + nutes is between 5.6 and 5.8 on the PH meter; PPM meter reads 920.

FYI: you could have skipped the 6" cube and went from the starter cube to the DWC, you might want to try that next time so that the roots will be searching faster.
