So I really want to try a drip system, so you say I might need a chiller are there ways around that like an insulated separation between the light and res? What kind of temps need to be maintained in the res? My house stays 68-69 all day. If I build the drip system can I build the res and keep it outside of the grow area. Or in a pinch throw a frozen bottle of water in to drop the temps.
If I decide to do a hempy what are the common issues if any? I'm going to have to decide soon I'm ready to sprout some more seeds, I think it will be some stuff called red dragon next. What should I sprout the seeds in which ever route I decide I plan on using the clay pebbles as my medium.

Maybe. Maybe not. I've never done drip, personally, but it doesn't seem like it would need one depending on the schedule. If you made the reservoir remote and the temps were in the high 60's you should be fine.

Root rot is the probably the biggest threat since the buckets don't drain completely, leaving an inch or two of standing nutrients. While there should be enough oxygen above the drain holes, the roots that are in the standing nutrients could rot.

If you're growing in hydroton you can start your seeds in RapidRooters or rockwool. There may be other things that would work but I'd probably go with the rapid rooters. YMMV...

I chopped down the SWOG last night after I saw about 10% amber trichs. Day 93 I think so about 13 weeks from the time I switched to 12/12 from outside, no bug problems other than two caterpillars. It's surprising nothing came inside with them. The kushberry is still in the room it has another 3 weeks or so as I figure it. Good time to start some seeds. I'm up for taking suggestions on what I should plant here is a list of my collection

1x ultrasour by th seeds- fem
1x lemon Thai kush by HSO - fem
1x blue cheese auto by dinafem - fem
1x blue og by g13 labs - fem

2x og kush by GSP - reg
2x purple dream by GSP - reg
2x boss Hogg by CCS - reg
2x wild Thailand by world of seeds - reg

6x pure skywalker
4x pure berry

If anyone has a experiences with any of these strains let me know or if there is something you would like to watch grow just let me know. I picked up some rapid rooters the other day and I will be investing in some sort of drip system but I will be tearing down my room and making needed mods as soon as the kush berry is done. There might also be a new solis tek matrix digital 1000w soon my space closet is 30x96x96 total available space currently using 30x30. I need to mod my ventilation to cool the hood and pull through the filter I was thinking of turning a y upside down and adding a booster fan inline from the hood. Not sure how I'm going to hook all of it up. I would prefer to not buy a second fan but I will have to if I get the 1000w.

It's kind of hard to tell by those pics, did the bloombastic help at all before you chopped?

I like those SolisTek Matrix ballasts, they're sweet. 1000w in a 30" wide space is a lot but you could easily use 48+" on the other side. Typically, I'd suggest 2 x 600w (and then use 30"x 72"-ish) for your size area but you have to have room to work too so perhaps 1 light would be better until you could find a better area. Perhaps a wide shot of the whole grow space might help... ;)

You'll definitely see an improvement going to 1000w HID but you will want to have have decent airflow through the hood to keep it cool. Your Can-Max 6" should be able to pull through the carbon filter AND the hood (inline) but then you have to run the fan constantly while the light is on. A second fan allows you to use one for the hood and the other just to control heat exhaust/odor control. What are you going to be doing with your current light?

How many plants are you planning on growing and how big?

I am going to use it for veg I think, just in the planning stages right now, after I finish the kushberry I will do the breakdown sanitize, seal and mod, and I will get up my Mylar. I haven't bought anything yet but I have a little money to spend. Humidity doesn't seem to be a problem as it gets colder outsider. I found a site that has decent prices I think I can get a sun system hood the ballast with a longer cord a 1000w bulb for around $500 not sure with shipping. After germination how long before the rapid rooters need to be in there grow medium? so I figure one 6" passive intake for the room and one 6" passive for the light should deal with the heat of the room and light.ill get a picture of the whole room tonight.

Are you going to split and divide the area for two simultaneous grow rooms or just swap out the light between veg/flower?

I'd skip mylar and look at Orca film. ;)

$500 seems reasonable for that combo, does that include the remote? :D

Rapid rooters work similar to rockwool, you can put them in the hydroton right away, after the seedlings pop up, or wait until you see the roots poking out of the bottom/sides.

The bloombastic did seem to help a lot of the red lines started to go away.
Ideally I would like to split into to sides but then I to vent two areas and that's more than I can afford right now. So when the kush berry is done I will goto veg with the ss400 and switch lights when I goto flower by that time I hope to be able to start a veg box/area with the ss400 so I can start cloning to get to a perpetual harvest.i I've got this whole roll of Mylar I need to use first and since this won't be the last mod I know it will be desposed of eventually lol.i figure my biggest issue will become heat but since winter is coming I think it will be all good. I was given a sample of GH rapid start at the grow shop. Do the rapid rooters need anything on them?

Yeah, multiple rooms = more equipment, for sure. If you already have the mylar you might as well use it but watch for hot spots. ;)

You can presoak the rapid rooters in rapid start (I'd use 1/2 strength) or you can wait until the seedlings pop out. I don't use it but since you have it...

GrowersHouse has the ballast (not sure about the cord length) on sale for 220 + 15 more for the remote. The hood is 93 and the bulb is under 90. You should see if your source will price match so you can save a few bucks. Always shop around before buying. ;)
