CLW Grow Journal

Postby Smillish » Fri Nov 29, 2013 6:23 pm

Hello everyone. I will be using the Solar Storm 400 to grow my own food. I will be using Fox Farm's Oceans Forest Soil as my medium. I will be growing Organic Cosmic Purple Carrots, Purple Basil, Organic Purple Peacock Broccoli, Northern Queen Lettuce, Leaf Blend Lettuce and Organic Stupice Tomatoes that I purchased from Sustainable Seed Company. I will be using Fox Farms Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom, Open Sesame, Beastie Blooms followed with Cha Ching. So far as costumer service is concerned I was really impressed with quick responses to my emails and phone calls from California Light Works. I was very happy with the way I was treated from Brandon for answering my many questions and being patient to answer again and again :D. Eleanor Murillo followed up with an email to let me know my order was on the way. Where do you get that? I just hope the Solar Storm 400 lives up to the things I have heard. I was also very happy to see that my grow light was not packaged in some flimsy cheap box that's beat-up and not tapped right. So far it appears that California Light Work's thinks things through from the start so I can get more than just a grow light. I'm really excited about this light. I think I have done well :ugeek:

Welcome to the forums!

That's a lot to fit under one SS440w; let's see how they do... :D

Yes your right. I will be using the light on all varieties but not at the same time. I will probably purchase a couple more.

Sorry time has gotten away especially with the holiday's :o. All I can say so far is that this light is quite, heavy duty and very bright. I suggest wearing sunglasses when working around this light. The intensity of the Solar Storm 400 is something I didn't expect. I am still glad I decided to get this light. The quality and ingenuity of this light has taken a lot of the worry and concern away.

Short crops will do better with LED so avoid corn. ;)

Yes, I won't be growing corn indoors. We checked out the approx height so not to have canopy issues. I'm still happy with this light. I figured I would've found something to criticize by now but haven't...yet  .

Hopefully soon I can add some pics. The last 2weeks has thrown us some curve balls. Besides being flat on my back for four days sick, power outage and water issues here we live but we are ready to keep going. Not all my seeds turned out great but a few have "managed" to stay alive. Growing indoors has its challenges but I'm finding out that it's comes with a different set of rewards than what I been use to outside. Having a light like the Solar Storm 400 is impressive. I have no complaint thus far with the light. I would like to have another one.

Things haven't changed much. I'm still happy with California Light Works. I have been showing friends our light and they're impressed. One of my friends said she has 13 x1000 HPS lamps and instead of buying more bulbs she is going to try a and see what she can do with growing with LED's. She is hearing good things. I think this or the 800 is the perfect light. I think the CLW is the perfect company to make this light as well. What good is a great light without a good company to back it up. Customer service and product quality perfect. I wouldn't change a thing.

1) GFP Journals are supposed to be updated at least weekly.
2) With nearly 40% less power, the SS800w won't replace a 1000w HPS with equal results.
3) CLW makes an excellent light.

Looking forward to the pictures... ;)
