Postby WestCoastGrower » Sun Nov 03, 2013 4:58 am

Grow Summary

Summary – I'm trying out the California Lightworks SolarStorm 400W to grow medicinal Marijuana. The equipment I'm using besides the 400W SolarStorm:

Inline Fan – Vortex Powerfans 6" 452CFM
Filter – Phat 6" 450CFM

Planting: Blue Dream, Opium, & Chocolope Kush

Germination – Germinated seeds using papertowel method in a plastic bag.

Nutrients – FoxFarm Nutrient Trio Formula (Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom), Advanced Nutrients VooDoo Juice Root Booster & Sensizym

Watering cycle - Fox Farm Soil Feed Schedule for FoxFarm products & every 3 weeks for VooDoo Juice Root Booster & Sensizym

Grow Log So Far:
10/20/13 Germinated 3 seeds

10/28/13 Chocolope Kush & Blue Dream seeds have sprouted and placed under light 30"
10/28/13 Opium breaks surface of soil
10/30/13 Blue Dream breaks surface of soil
10/30/13 Lowered light to 25"
11/03/13 Removed Chocolope Kush from tent as it doesn't look like it's going to grow

Welcome to the forums!

The SS400w is too small to cover the whole tent but I assume that you're not going to the the whole tent for flowering.

How long/tall do you plan to veg before flipping to 12/12?

Since there's only 2 plants now, I figured I'd let them get to about 2 feet before switching to the Bloom cycle.

That's not a good idea...

1) You only have 6' headroom and cannabis will double, triple (or more) in height from start of 12/12 to harvest.
2) LED lights don't penetrate well so 2' maybe 3' (3 is pushing it) foot is where you want to finish not flip.

I'd flip them at 1 foot tall (or less), personally.

11/10/13 Beginning week 2 - add Fox Farm Grow Big
11/10/13 Opium 3.5", Blue Dream 3" tall

You're right, I should probably flip to Bloom just over 1 foot.
FoxFarm's schedule is flip to Bloom starting week 5. So I'll probably see where they are around then.

looks great, I've heard great things about blue dream, One thing I did to help with penetration, I tossed two 4' t5's along with 2 2' t5's for extra light. I use a mixture of 2700k, 3400k bulbs for flower, and 6400k 6200k in veg. seems to help, also great in case your light fails or that breaker pops. I have them on a different timer and breaker, they come on 15 min earlier to wake up the little ones, so it doesn't go from pitch black to 400 or how ever many watts of power you are using in an instance.

Cheers and good luck
