New LED setup

Postby theV1 » Mon Dec 02, 2013 8:02 pm

Just started a new LED setup. Have a small grow unit that is hexagonal, and stands about 1m tall. Currently I am using a LED Grow solution that is 49X3W (39Red and 10Blue). Reds are 630 and Blues 460 respective wavelengths. 3 small plants in the unit. Running around 16 hours per day. Soil is now CANNA TERRA PRO PROFESSIONAL INDOOR POTTING MIX (Just put in in today. Prior to this, the plants were in 3 separate small pots.) I have only been using this LED setup for about 4 days but what I have found is that the plants, although seemingly healthy enough are beginning to appear quite light green, and not a dark healthy green. I would appreciate it if someone could shed some light (sorry for the pun) on this. I am just about to add 3x T5 Pure White LED Fluorescent Grow Light Lamp Bulb Tube 8W to the grow setup.
As I said, I would appreciate some help in getting this growing nicely. thanks

Wow, 3' tall is really short, is this just a veg room? Why so much dark time? What is the actual draw on that LED light? With 49x3w it's probably less than 100w actual draw. I hope you're not counting on large top-shelf yields...

Without pictures it's hard to tell but it sounds like the ones that are yellowing need food or their pH could be off. ;)

I am only looking at a small yield, as I do not wish for more, I have no interest in getting rid of any of it. This is just for me and me alone. I want to perfect the small amount I do. As for the yellowing, I don't think this is the case, as before they were in the grow unit they were in the direct sunlight only about 4 hours a day, being watered every 2 days, and they were fine. Its only since being in the LED light has the colour changed. As noted, they are in perfect soil now. I appreciate your thoughts but what I need is someone that knows LED lights really well to help. Thanks

OK, if I run into anybody that knows about LED lighting/growing I'll send them your way. :D

Good luck!

I am confused, the reason I joined this forum is that it is based on LED lighting, isn't it?
thanks

Everyone is welcome here, no matter what lighting they use. Growing with LED isn't rocket science, it's just a different light. The marketing hype/propaganda is easy to believe but it's not backed up by results so far. ;)
