First Grow LED

Postby MadDog » Mon Dec 16, 2013 11:16 am

This is not just my first grow with LED...it is my very first grow ever. I decided to work with LED instead of HPS/MH because of obvious reasons you already are aware of. I have a 3'X22"X6' room i am going to grow in. I am going to grow just one plant at a time. Maybe a couple of autos. I wanted to get a 400w solarstorm, but I was wondering if i could get by with a 200w solar flare full cycle? The sales guy said a 400 may be too powerful for a room of this size and i would do well with the 200w full cycle. I know either the most honest salesman or maybe he was stoned or something. Please let me know I want to order today.

SS400 is perfect for flowering a 2x3 area. spend the extra money, it will be worth it in the long run. autoflowers tend to stay smaller so you should be good there. good luck and keep posting!

Exactly right although I wouldn't say perfect. ;)

With only 6' headroom he'll need to flower while they're short...so maybe 3 small plants would be better.

For a grow area that large I believe your salesman is correct. You may want to go up to a 240 watt light but for 3 x 2 a good LED grow light should cover that at round 200 watts. I would say just buy one and if you need another one later...go for it. Having more points of light (2 lamps rather than 1) will give you more even coverage anyway.

No 200w LED grow light will adequately cover a 3x2 area for flowering cannabis if you want top-shelf results.
