Re: New First Time Grow

Hello!
I am happy to report I just finished taking cuttings for the first time! Decided to try two different systems, rock wool plugs with a humidity dome, and a 'home-made' h2o clone set up. The latter I found instructions for on you tube. It was easy enough to make using an air pump, air stones, small rubbermaid tub and some tubing. I will be curious to see what works best.

Planning to purchase another Solar Storm 400, I love mine! Solar Flare is great also but is truly a one plant light in my 'green' opinion….that said it will be nice to have a special light for a special Mother plant down the road.

Is anyone familiar with making medicine using lethcin and an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner? I know there is tons of info on tincture making out there just wondered if any of you have done it this way. Also curious to hear of anyone using the raw, acidic form for medicine.

Also of note two of the Stanley brothers,CNN Special Weed, Charlotte's Web strain, will be speaking in Burlington ,VT on Wednesday of this next week. November 20th. Sounds like it is open to anyone interested.

Many thanks!

Don't forget pictures of the cloning comparison!

I'm glad you like your light...

I have a friend who is actually a chemist with many years of organic extraction experience but he's not on *this* forum so I don't really have an answer for those questions. He did say that sonification is a good extraction process but I'm not sure if he means using a jewelry cleaner or a commercial unit of some sort. I just don't have that knowledge in my repertoire.

Hello!
Thanks for the information. I am still researching the sonic extraction process. I'll post anything that looks interesting. Heard it is a great way to get a 'raw' (acidic) product tincture.

I just purchased a heat mat to use for cloning. I am planning to set the temp on 75 degrees…does this sound about right?

I ordered another Solar Storm 400 last week. Hope it arrives soon as my girls are growing like crazy!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

I've been researching more about extractions but I still haven't found much on sonification although the theory behind it makes sense to me so I'm interested in learning more too.

Yeah, 75-80 is fine... ;)

I will keep my eyes and ears open for more information on this extraction method also!

I recently purchased another large florescent light for my little guys. I now have two 400 Solar Storms, one veg Solar Flare and two 48"flo.
I am hoping to gift two of my Mama plants to caregivers this next week and flower off two large Mamas so I will be left with only four Mother plants and cloning babies. Hoping I will have plenty of light to designate to flower off two at a time…they are in 14" pots now and although not tall are quite wide! My original thought was to purchase another Solar Flare for flowering but as the plants have grown I am not sure it will be big enough for one let alone two!

I have been learning the ph/alkalinity lesson the hard way…noticed a bit of leaf curling on one variety. I am now in the process of reversing it but takes time…

For an interesting You Tube presentation check out Josh Stanley at TEDxBoulder…very informative for medical cannabis re treating seizures. Hoping we can get the laws changed so patients can travel with medication and to obtain medication without breaking a federal law…

Are you going to post pictures? *wink-wink-nudge-nudge* ;)

I've been researching equipment for sonification. For smaller batches you might be able to use the jewelry cleaning device that you can buy everywhere but the better/bigger units go up in price from there. It's not required for extraction but it would extract more essentials than without and it'd do it quicker. Pros and cons...
