I can't say I'm impressed by the LED that they're planning but we still don't have all of the information about it.
It uses large arrays, which is a negative for me. It's air-cooled (like a HID) which is good. I had that idea years ago, in this forum. The large one is 990w actual draw and that's a plus since that really *will* cover a 4x4 area but they'll probably claim it'll cover something ridiculously large.

Those are LED arrays; several diodes packaged together. Arrays have had a history of heat failures and as you can see, they concentrate the light in smaller areas and then they, apparently, use a lens to spread it. That's NOT how I would build one but they had to come up with something to get their share of the LED market.
I assume so. 10 for the 50s 20 for the 100s. The size is huge too...
Unknown but I bet it won't be cheap.
I love their Matrix ballasts but I doubt I'd buy their LED.

ok, gotcha. now i see what you mean by an array. it would seem like there would be a lot of heat from each array vs. spreading them out across the whole fixture.
i think i'll just stick with the matrix for now. i've got enough invested in LED's at the moment.
what's nice is that MJ is a pretty high rate of return on investment. my last grow paid for the LED if i would have had to buy all that i grew from a dispensary.
Yeah, that's why 90-95% of indoor grows are cannabis, excluding house plants that don't get their own lighting of course.
