Hi people! Im starting on my first grow and wanted some input. Im working with an insulated grow tent thats 2x2x4 for personal use. Ive tried to read as much as possible but this seems like the best place to get an honest answer. Im looking into buying a bd240-u led light. But after reading some of the threads on here it seems like i should go a different route.

I want a good led light and im willing to spend the.money for a quality product. Does anyone have any personal experiance with bd leds? All i find is people who "know" a guy using it. Id like some real world feedback with a small operation. Any help.is greatly appreciated.

I don't think we have any BD journals here and I don't know anyone that actually uses them either but they get decent reviews...if they're not shill reviews. One of my local hydroponics shops likes them but they say that BD over-hypes the coverage area like most light manufacturers do. The BD240-u *should* work in a 2x2 tent though.

The BD looks just like the mars II lights from china. Not saying they are but you can look for yourself and see they are almost identical. I went with California light works SS440 as it was one of the best I could find when doing all my research.

Thank you sistermaryelephant: what would u recommend for a small grow room like mine? This will be my first ever grow and i dont want to cheap out on it. But im only looking to grow 2-3 plants at a time (maybe 4 if everything goes good)

Newgrowking: what size are u growing with the ss400? I thought about that light too but dont know if it would be over kill in a small tent like mine.

Ur right tho about the mars2 looking the same. Only real difference other than price i found was the spectrum it covers. The bd covers (so they say) a full spectrum while the mars2 doesnt. But i have no idea how much of a difference that will make if any at all.

The bd240-u wouldn't be a bad light in a 2x2 area. The SS440w would be quite a bit of light but if you can handle the environmental issues it'd be better. Let's do the math:
BD: 240w/4sqft = 60w/sqft
CLW: 330w/4sqft = 82.5w/sqft

I think the BD would be more appropriate for the 2x2 tent but an experienced grower *could* run the SS440w and should have exceptional results as long they keep everything under control. The BD will be easier to manage in that area and should still provide decent results. I don't know the cost differences.
