Hello there got 3 free lighthouse hydro blackstar units to use! they seem to be a much cheaper build quality as compared to the CLW SS400, and the friend who gave them to me considers them to be trash... but I think he was trying to use them too high over the tops and over too large an area.

Am I wasting my time? or are these usable for a small medical cannabis garden, over the correct coverage area?

I have one.. 240HO <------ (high output?) "veg light?" one of the led 's is burned out, u can see it.
I have two.. 240UV <------ (ultra violet?) "flower light?" uses 3 watt leds i think.

They seem to have good reviews from sellers but I don't see many journals. Any information is appreciated.

It was an OK light, 2 years ago, according to Nate's Lighthouse Hydro BlackStar 240W Grow Light Review but it's old tech. On the other hand, they're free so maybe you find a use.

Yes, the HO is the veg light and the UV is the flower light and they are 3w diodes.

kinda what I expected, but I want to see an actual grow journal with some pics...
probably the best way is to just dive in and set them up tonight.

LED market moves so fast EVERYTHING seems to be "old tech" ... stopped by the CLW website today, the newer lights are up there.. so now my SS400 is old tech.. not even thru my 1st grow
hahaha! so.....if they work, they work IMO. even if they are outdated, ill start a new journal real soon to check them out.
