Am I on track ?

Postby Theoldguy » Wed Mar 12, 2014 8:52 am

Ok here's the plan. I have a closet 2'5x7 with a 30" door in the center that I have divided into three light tight compartments giving me 2 grow chambers 2',5"x 2'5" I have built a soffit across the back wall at the ceiling protruding into each chamber .I have mounted a fan into this soffit in the center space forcing air into each chamber out the bottom back to the center. I plain on using a duel hose portable a/c unit I'm thinking 9000 btu should be sufficient. This will be a sealed environment so I will be using a co2 tank with a solenoid valve on a timer , thinking that I can keep my levels stable if I have a tight enough seal.I'm thinking that I will need to put down 40 to 50 wats of led light per square foot of grow space. I plain on using 7 band lights one in each chamber 150 to 200 wats. Have not decided on which brand yet. Any comments/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums!

I'd exhaust from the top and intake from the bottom for better efficiency and I'd be shooting for an actual draw of 50+w/sqft but that's just my opinion.

I agree that it would be better to move the air in the opposite direction, but with the way the room is configured/space restricions and the type of fan I have (squirrel cage) it be way more diffacult to achieve. Im thinking with the a/c at floor level bringing the warm air down and blowing it across the floor to mix with the heavier refrigerated air will eliminate stratification. Keeping in mind that this is a sealed environment and not actually trying to remove the hot air only mix and cool. Any recommendations on A good light.Seems the led light industry is a treacherous landscape to navigate, full of shyster and swindlers.
