indoor organic growing ???

Postby Jhines18 » Thu Apr 17, 2014 9:01 pm

Hi. Id really like to grow organically indoors. Perhaps I'm naive, but is this possible? What I intend to do is use some good compost and fertilize with guano our that fish stuff. I plan to use a solarflare 220 in a 20x36 inch space and co2 from a tank. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks

hi, i'm not a soil grower but i'd offer this up.

first, yes you can.
if it were me starting off, i'd use a prepared soil. and organic nutes. fox farm seems to be popular with dirt farmers. need to keep track of pH (very important). temp/humidity etc all the basics.

the 220 (i'm not sure of actual watts of the 220 either) would be less than min of 50w/sqft to grow good product. i would go for around 70w/sqft. especially with CO2. is the SS440 out of your budget? it would give you about 330 watts in 5 sq ft for 66 watts/sqft which would be perfect in my opinion.

good luck! RKY

Thanks SME. I've read some of your advice and it's really helpful. Do you have thoughts on growing organic?

Also thanks for your comments rkymtnman. Price is an issue, but I was thinking just to add another 220 when I can. Then Id have the option of running two different stations or combining them. I figured one 220 would be enough to grow a 2x2 scrog, which is something I hope to learn. What do you think about three lights? Thanks

i just looked up the stats: 165 actual watts. it's still not quite enough for a 2x2 especially if you are running CO2. only 41w/sqft.
did you already buy the 220? if so, which one?

i'd start at the end and work backwards. how much weed do you need to grow per harvest? if you are a really good grower (1 gram/watt), you'll have 165 grams per harvest. is that enough? then go from there.

I'm not an organic is better kind of guy, organic is just a buzzword and it doesn't mean what many people think it means. That said, there are plenty of organic cannabis growers out there so it does work, it's really just a personal choice.
