GrowFunk Led

Postby nineandfive » Mon Apr 21, 2014 3:42 am

Ok Iam a CLW fan how ever this thing looks very interesting. However the costs are very super high.

This monster LED panel can illuminate an 8'x8' area, comes in three models the F series for the flower cycle, the V series for the vegetative cycle and the G series for using during both vegetative and flower cycles.

F100 $3,299.99
G100 $3,499.99
V100 $2,999.99
I cant find anymore info on it yet ... But i figured i would post this. What kinda has me interested is. Its the only LED panel that i have see that's curved

I remember looking those up before, I can't say that I'm impressed with the website or the lights. The picture you posted is a light they don't even offer on the product page and there's no real specs either. I wouldn't waste my money on one at this point.

The curved panel seems kind of gimmicky, does it leave the center less covered? It could be a decent light but the prices are way too high and it's an unknown as far as quality; without specs it's hard to say but it's a red flag (for me) when they don't post them.

That's a huge red flag for me but, like I said, without more info it's hard to say. I'd avoid them without more info. Maybe they'll be the best thing since sliced bread but I have my doubts. ;)

I just came across this post and have a little info, though not much. first on growfunk, not this model but the g16
The G16 SERIES uses approximately 115 watts, and is rated for a 3’ x 3’ area, and produces 1300µmoles at 12” from the plant canopy.
Instead of using Lumens or Lux for a measurement of light we use a measurement called Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF) the units are in micromoles (µmoles). The reason for this is because a lumen is a measurement for light to the human eye. The human eye is most sensitive at 555nm (Green), while Chlorophyl A&B is most sensitive in the blue range (430nm-455nm) and red range (640nm-670nm). Since the human eye peaks at 555nm, and the LEDs are engineered for Chlorophyl production, they do not seem as bright as HID bulbs. Before now, all types of grow lights were actually lights for illumination, and would only slightly be altered for indoor gardening.

We recommend that the light be placed 18”-36” above the plant canopy. Please do not put the lights closer because it can stress the plants. Bleaching is a later stage of stress from too much light. Earlier stages consist of slower growth, or the appearance of different types of nutrient disorders.

I got that info after emailing them as I bought a Grow Funk G16 the day before yesterday. Yesterday I returned it and bought the blackdog bd240-u instead. My reasons were this:
I can not tell the size of the chip being used. the actual wattage draw no where near draws the same as comparably priced units (the bd draws 240w, so my rough thought is that the g16 would be using about 230w as an equivalent measure when the bd is 480w)

the unit seemed rebranded from china, but it seemed just out dated to me, so i brought it back.
I am in the same home town as the guys that make these grofunk units, so i wish i could say they slam , but frankly i didnt get any questions truly answered that i asked, and instead got a smoke and mirror show, so this turned me off of the product completely.

Well, the "G" series are full-cycle but 115w in a 3x3 area isn't enough for flowering cannabis properly, for sure, maybe not even enough for veg.

More red flags...
