I also think that the cure (burping containers for a month or 2) really adds to the flavor and enjoyment. On the other hand you do need to feed the monkey :D

We're 5 days drying at 75* and 45% RH. Steady.

Anyone want to suggest a way I can get them to curing without risking drying out too much?

You can fix overdry, it is too damp (invite for trichome destroying mold!)that should concern you most. Slow the process down as you approach target weight.Ideally you want to dump 2/3rds weight in 3 days but is better if the last day is fine tuning rather than "crisping ". Just keep eye on them and no light, cool breeze. :geek:

Search for cVault and/or Boveda packs... ;)

Quite certain I did indeed overdry. 6th day I put smaller buds in a small airtight container with a Xicar hygrometer. Readings around 44%. Oops. Please no chastisements. I was using the snap test and I just didn't think I was there. That's why I moved on to the hygrometer test. At that point I jarred them right up and burped them daily even though I'm not sure to what effect since I didn't need to ease the moisture out any more and I don't think the other benefits of curing can be achieved once they're that dry or so I hear. So July 4th they got jarred. July 8th I got delivery 62% Boveda packs and put one in each jar. I weighed first and got a surprisingly (to me) decent yield of 5.6 oz. Accurate scale this time, a My Weight 300-Z. Curiously the weight was down 75% from chopping day, very textbook if the wet weight was accurate.
Interesting, Plant 1= 84.3 grams, Plant 2=73.3 grams. Very close even though Plant 1 twice as big.

After thoughts. The plants got no water 5 days before chopping. So they may have been a little dry to start. And Plant 1's defoliation down the stretch, was it kind of dry all along? How else does it tip the scale the same as Plant 2?

Anyway, learned alot. Next time will have a different drying system. Will jar them sooner and if still wet will lay them back out for awhile.

Any comments if I should leave them closed in the Mason jars with the Bovedas for a spell? Any chance rehydration?

Start another grow. Use fan leaves stuck onto top of Mason Jars. Or moisten paper towel lightly and place in top of jar. Rehydration will occur. Again, Mold is deadly, dry is fixable. Best of luck. It is all a learning process. Knowledge is no guarantee of success.

The Boveda packs are two-way humidity control, they'll rehydrate to 62.5% no problem. Burping the jars will still exchange gasses but you want to wait a few days for rehydration to occur. ;)

The packs have been in there long enough to bring the rh inside the 2 jars with hygrometers around 62%, presumably all the jars. I was thinking of leaving them shut for 2 weeks then burping briefly. Then again 2 weeks after that. I don't want to leave the jars open so long as to set the Bovedas back too far. Of course I'm grasping at straws. Does this sound like a reasonable plan?

It only takes a minute to exchange the gasses; I'd burp more often at first, maybe every other day, then weekly, then monthly, then whenever you need stash... ;)

I may as well follow your lead. Literally only a minute or 2? And any estimate how long to leave be to rehydrate?
