I usually get stuff off eBay. I am a legal medical patient though.
I stick with the air pots because it self prunes the roots. I've kept moms for 6 months. Sounds like the ones you're looking are the right ones. h

Got the door mounted, everything sealed up as good as I can do without a real light test. Loads to do but it's coming along.
I ordered a 5 pack of the 3 gal. air pots, they seem pretty good, seen quite a few others using them once I searched around a little bit.
Should be able to start cutting in my vents and readying the mounting hardware for the light as early as tomorrow. Gotta wait for that paint to dry

Something that works great for sealing light leaks is sticky felt, http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Sheets-9-x-12 ... _755wt_690 (you can find it in craft stores, or Walmart) I believe the maker is "Presto". Ive probably spent 50 bucks on different stuff, and I keep going back to it. Wish they made it in rolls!
The pots are about as close as you'll come to hydro. (as far as growth rate) When you get the pots, there is a top and a bottom. (A lot of people do it wrong) 1st, the top nubs dont have holes in them. Then on one side the nubs are bigger, those go towards the inside, and are what the bottoms rest on. The other really cool thing is, when your not using them, they store flat. You can literally have 30 of them in a box! h

I forgot to tell you about watering. Im sure you would have figured it out, but you have to water them real slow. As a seedling, I just water the middle, then as she grows work your way out. Some people use the wick method too, but I havent tried it, seems a bit messy. Peace. h

I was wondering about the watering with those things. I'm going to pick up a tray just to keep my wood dry and avoid any mold/mildew issues. I have two big black ones, would like to find something a little more reflective if I can, otherwise they'll work for now. I'm very very interested in a wick, was considering that as I have to travel occasionally or take vacations. Usually nothing more than a week, I think a wick could get me past that without a problem, I guess we will see.
So does the water just flow right out of them if you pour it in too fast?

Ya, I keep a tray under mine. If you want a true wick system, run 3-4 strands of cotton rope out the bottom. it should cover you for a week. Otherwise I water every other day.
Yes, if you dont water slow, it will run right out the holes. h

You can also use a dripper system on a timer, then you rarely have to water manually.

The light has arrived, the room is getting close to done enough for round one.
I started my charcoal filter, but need a reducer and some more activated charcoal before I can get that mounted. The inline vent fan also arrived so I should be able to get that mounted later today.
The light is slightly louder than I had expected/hoped but nothing that I can't manage. I may do some insulating for the sound if it becomes a problem, but I really don't think it will be at all. It's got a faint hum if you're in the basement, nothing obnoxious and you can't even hear it anywhere else in the house. Should be just fine.

Quick update, but no pictures just yet.
Seeds showed up, even have one sprouting a tap root.
My air pots showed up as well, 3 gallons.
My soil is mixed and cooking, I went organic. I mixed in a very very basic tea tonight, needs a few more weeks before it won't burn my ladies. Should give them plenty of time to sprout and grow, just hoping they don't outgrow the jiffy pots too fast.
I've got my mothers den/veg area with 2 x 68watt CFLs (supposed to be 150 watt equivalents).
Anyway, soon as things sprout I'll be sure to get some more pictures up. can't wait to move them under the solarstorm and see what happens.
