Hey Dab,

I'd keep it at about 24 inches until you get some roots and some leaves. I wouldn't go any lower than 18" until they are decent sized. As they get bigger and go into flower, I go for about 12 to 15" from the tops.

Good luck! What are you trying to grow? In what too?

I am growing 5 AK-47 fem seeds.. 3 gallon pots.. with 1/2 promix and 1/2 seaspoil

this is my first time growing..

They seem to be growing verryyy slowly.. I had the ligjht 1 foot away from them.. untill i saw this post.. now its sitting 24" away..

Planted them 8 days ago.. 2 of them are much bigger than the others.. all the others seem to not be growing... or maybe im just impatient.. lol like i said, its my first time.

gave them their first good watering yesterday.. one of them almost fell right into the soil.. ohh no.. here is a pic:

i'm doing my first soil grow now too so i''m hardly an expert. does the mix you have already have nutes in it? what kind of water are you using? you should keep a small fan blowing on them too if possible. what is your temp and humidity levels? humidity should be pretty high at first (60 to 80%).

the more info you can provide the better we can try to help!

also, you shouldn't start them out in a big pot either. start with like a solo cup or similar and move them into bigger containers.

at least that is what most say. i went right from rapid rooters with good root development right into a 10g smart pot and they seem to be doing fine. but others would say this is not the best way to do it.

If they're not broken they should stand back up. A fan gently blowing on them will help strengthen their stems.
