I'm moving to a country where you can legally grow soon, so I thought I'd come here and get some tips!

Uruguay is the only country to really legalize; learn spanish. ;)

Of course there are states (and countries) that allow medical use too so maybe it's one of those... ;)

Disclaimer:
I still use HID and I'm NOT an LED expert. All of my LED knowledge is from other parties or research so I can't say from first hand experience one way or another. I also run a medical grow consulting business in SoCal.

Congratulations on moving to a legal country! Everyone should be so lucky. I live in a fully legal state, and am in love with the fact that people can be so bold to stand up to unjust laws that outlaw nature. </soapbox>

As far as tips, I'd recommend reading all the journals you can on here, especially if you plan on growing LED. There are so many experienced growers on here, and collaboration is such a valuable resource.

Check out some other forums as well. I love International Cannagraphic magazine (ICMag), Rollitup, 420mag, Grasscity.... Those are great resources, and many have new grower specific forums. SME has growtutor.com I think which is also super.

Have you grown anything before? If you haven't grown cannabis, it's always nice to start with some inexpensive vegetables, tomatoes for example, and get your theory and technique down a little before jumping into the high-stakes but amazingly fun world of cannabis cultivation. That's what I did. Some folks just go gonzo though, and jump right in. I have mucho respect for that also. Just less at stake if, for example, your ebb/flow table craps out and all your tomatoes die (happened to me, if it was weed, I'd have been crushed).

Learn your basics, pH, RH, Temp, nutes, ventilation and lighting. Make some decisions about how much money you want to spend on this before getting started.

Do you have a grow area already planned out? If not there are great threads out there for planning that stuff, on here and others. Good place to make sure you have your variables (mostly) accounted for.

Read "The Marijuana Grow Bible" by Jorges Cervantes if you haven't already, and anything you can get your hands on by Ed Rosenthal. Watch "How to Grow like a Pro" on Youtube featuring Nico Escondido from High Times.

Above all my recommendation is to read. You can never read enough, never learn all there is to learn. Experience matters most, but if you can't grow legally yet, you should read until your eyeballs bleed.

"Medicinal, recreational, and sacramental utilization of this plant are identical. To be healthy is to be happy is to be holy, all of which are connected to Cannabis." - Joan Bello, The Benefits of Marijuana
